Wow, this video is a gem! Seeing two legends like Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain discuss their first meeting is like witnessing history unfold. MJ acknowledging Wilt as the G.O.A.T. is such a powerful moment. It’s rare to see someone of Jordan’s stature give that kind of respect, and it speaks volumes about Wilt’s impact on the game.

Wilt was a beast on the court, dominating in ways that seem almost mythical today. His records and stats are mind-blowing, and it’s incredible to think about how he changed the game. But what’s even more impressive is how he paved the way for future generations of players, including MJ himself.

Jordan’s humility in this video is refreshing. It’s a reminder that greatness recognizes greatness. In an era where debates about the G.O.A.T. can get heated, it’s cool to see MJ give props to Wilt. It shows that the legacy of basketball is built on mutual respect and admiration.

This video is a must-watch for any basketball fan. It’s a beautiful tribute to the legends who have shaped the game we love. 🏀🔥

You can clearly tell that while there's mutual respect and admiration between the two of them, both are wayyy too prideful in their own greatness. Wilt knew Mike was gunning for the throne and Mike knew Wilt was honestly the one player who could go down in history as greater than him, which probably drove MJ nuts as hyper competitive as he is.

Imagine those 2 on the same The two best "2 way" players of All Time!!!! It wouldn't even be fair.

They both speak English the way it’s supposed to be spoken.

Wilt is underappreciated for 1 very simple reason; they cannot market the damn game with Wilt still leading in so many stat categories 50+ years after he retired. Statistically speaking, Basketball should be divided in Pre-Wilt and After-Wilt Eras; his influence on the game was THAT crazy!

My favorite quote from Chamberlain on why Jordan couldn't be the NBA goat was this one, “The difference between you and me is that they had to change the rules for me so I couldn't dominate. They changed the rules so that you could.”

Totally different to Ant disrespecting the players who paved the way before him.

The GOAT debate is ridiculous... with that said, Chamberlain seemed like an incredibly fascinating, entertaining guy... easily #1 on my list of sports stars that I would've wanted to meet and get to know

MJ and that generation of players always greatly respected the previous era players, unlike many players of the last 10yrs or so who vilify the previous greats to hype up their own achievements and thought themselves as the greatest ever. The ignorance and arrogance are simply laughable.

MJ, Wilt, and Basketball Respect

• Yo, imagine MJ and Wilt on the same squad! Two of the GOATs in both offense and defense. On the court, they'd be unstoppable, but off the court, it might be a different story. Think about Kobe and Shaq's drama. MJ probably picked Hakeem for his all-time team to avoid that. If I had to choose a center for my all-time team, it’d be Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem, Bill Russell, or Wilt.

• Wilt Chamberlain is hands down the greatest individual player ever. If the NBA had tracked blocks, steals, and had DPOY awards back then, his stats would be insane. Triple-double seasons, maybe even quadruple-doubles! People don’t realize how many steals Wilt got. Reports say he easily had over 10 blocks a night, sometimes close to 20.

• And let’s not forget, MJ and his generation respected the legends before them. Unlike some players today who trash-talk the greats to boost their own egos. The arrogance and ignorance are just ridiculous.

Wilt is the greatest individual player to play in the NBA. If the NBA tracked blocks, steals, Defensive Player of the Year, and did an All-Defensive Team, then Wilt's resume would be off the charts. Wilt would have had multiple seasons with triple double averages and maybe a few quadruple doubles. Many fans do not know, that Wilt got a lot of steals. There are newspaper reporters back then that think Wilt easily go over 10 blocks a night and closer to 20.

Interesting how they both had a different take on the idea of sitting down. MJ said Wilt wanted to sit down w/ him. Wilt said MJ had a desire to sit and talk with him. Admiration indeed, but both clearly thought they were the superior player.

I love the body language between the two, MJ never looked more sheepish and lacking in confidence, standing next to another person.

The fact the Internet wasn't as big as it is or even existed back then, makes me believe it must've been surreal to have seen the man that you're playing catch up with one day when you meet him face to face.

It's 9/4/24: MJ has 6 'ships, + a few scoring records, yet Wilt still owns 12 individual records, esp 100 pts! (in a 48 min game), & those unbelievable rebounds records! MJ was more flashy & exciting to play hoops, esp w the added '80s 3ptr. GOAT, to me: it's MJ' 100%, Wilt' 94%, LeBron' 92%, B'Russel' 90%, as he won 11 'ships (8 in a row!), & esp against Wilt!.. 😥😘🏀🤗
