This kitten didn't have any chance against two coyotes. But (maybe because being too unexperienced) it also made a severe mistake when it left its quite good defensive position in the corner at 0:38 by attacking the one coyote too offensively. That gave the other coyote the oppurtunity to attack the kitten's side. And then of course it was over.

I lately saw a video of an adult cat defending against a lone coyote. This (probably much more experienced) cat gave her best attention not to leave her defensive position and thereby won the fight.

Poor kitten. The second coyote seemed bolder than the first. Almost as if it knew to bait the cat into overextending so it could get it from behind.

Many of my neighbors lost their pets in SoCal when the Coyotes would come down from the mountains and hunt cats. A house cat might be able to deal with one coyote but when they hunt in packs they can overwhelm its defenses and tear it apart.

That’s a good video for cat owners to watch that let their Mr. Mew Mew wander on nightly “adventures”. Sooner or later they’re next adventure will be going through the inside of a coyote.

Poor kitty over lunged and had to turn its back to run back for cover. Fatal mistake. But it was 2 on 1. They would have eventually got an angle on it.

As a teenager, over 50 years ago I read an article in field and stream, or maybe sports afield that said that in California suburbs coyotes favorite food was small pets.

The first coyote was likely a female or juvenile. Those two account for about 1/3 of cat deaths and are the ones you see running away from aggressive cats. But the second coyote was likely the alpha male. Alpha males are more aggressive and account for approximately 90% of cat deaths.
