If I ever saw a coyote attacking my cat, that coyote is gonna wish it wasn't never born

I am so glad my kitties never have to face this horror. Because I keep them in my warm home.
People don't let your babies out side unless you are with them to protect them.

I'm in California, Huntington beach. There are a bunch of wetlands protected for wildlife in this city. Coyotes run freely in the general city area. They may travel via aqueducts, or train tracks and sometimes seen just walking through a general neighborhood during the day, walking on sidewalks among many general public houses.
They are looking for cats and small dogs to eat. People who move in to this area take note, if you love your cat, coyotes are a very serious threat to your cat who may not know this. Even those who live here and know this may have lost their pet to a coyote in this area.
Sometimes you see lefty over is a head and tail of a cat. While walking on a trail you may see dog poop but with hair in the poop then it was probably from a coyote.
You may tell when they got a kill because they have like a howling party.

Almost every time I hear coyotes howling near my house at night, there will be a missing cat poster taped to the stop sign at the end of my street the next day. It's sad to see how little some people care about their pets.

A lot of uneducated folk in this comment section. Cats can 100% be kept indoors and have a good and fun filled life. Leave out toys, especially catnip filled toys as well, have plenty cat trees or even shelves on the walls for them to run and be high up. Have a bunch of scratching posts and boards for them to shed their nails. And, most importantly, engage them with play coming from YOU. By playing with them, you strengthen that bond. Have plenty of spots for them to lay down that are in sunny spots. Cats love the warmth from the sun. Keep their diet as wet food as that's the closest to what they would eat if they were wild cats.

Keep in mind there are situations that coyotes will wander and attack in groups. Without going into detail, the cat or small animal experiences a slow, vicious, and terrifying death. I can't understand pet (and home) owners who aren't super aware of their surroundings and aren't super careful to take proper care of their boys and girls.

It's amazing how the cat new immediately that wasn't a dog. I once had a Bob cat in backyard but I gave it enough reasons never to return. Eating anything here might cost you everything.

I will add, your cat was very lucky that day. Coyotes have been ran out of the woods by construction near my parents house and have killed all their outside cats one by one to make a meal. The cat is one of their favorite food groups. Keep your cat inside if coyotes are roaming your neighborhood please.

I live out in the country and cats usually last at the most about 3 years before a coyote gets them

Glad cat got away, I was hoping 100 cats would come out at the end and straighten out the yote. I know it’s nature and it doesn’t know better but always nice to see the tables turn, cats are not to be played with. They just happen to be small but they more than stand their ground when confronted pound for pound.
