There is no way I could do all in one day. I recently had to do 3 birthday cakes for the same day, for the same party, for 3 different people. It was a good experience but I definitely paced myself and thank God they turned out pretty good. I'm not tooting my own horn. I just took one look at the kids faces and that was enough for me. 🌿🌹🌿🤗

I have a full-time job and I do cakes on the side. Thankfully my Mom does most of the baking so i can concentrate on decorating. Most times we bake and freeze cakes and make the buttercream, filling and other decorations in advance. But due to the temperature I tend to have to wait until the night do most of the decorating. I live in Jamaica and it can get hot especially in the summer.

I am also guilty of pulling decorating all nighters on weekends 🙈. I like having the kitchen to myself in the early morning. I don't have to deal with persons coming in and out and it gives me the opportunity to binge Netflix lol.

I have a part time job and I still pace myself. I get overwhelmed by the amount of work if it's last minute, and anyways with the baking and cooling and cleaning my mixer between everything it would take all day if I tried to do it in one day. And I don't have a full day, ever!
On Thursday I decorated my birthday cake (chocolate with peanut butter frosting and ganache, both of which were firsts for me) and my kids sang happy birthday while I decorated. They love licking the spoons after I've finished, and extra frosting is perfect for cupcakes at a later date.

I pace myself, baking and freezing cakes in advance, making 2D & 3D fondant decorations, buttercream, ganache & simple syrup in advance. I frost the night before and add the 2D & 3D decorations the day of. After watching your video, I made get frost 2 days in advance & add the decorations the day before the party. Thanks for setting it all out

I love your videos, you are the only one I could find for tutorial! One more thing, Im the total beginner!!! I know how to make a cake :) but decorating-total beginner! Now I can ask you only a question...for me, the cake I saw the most USA made, for me are not the cakes, sorry! The bases loks like more ....a bread>?! The cakes I make, are with a lots of creams and I dont think its easy to prepare in advance, especially the bases need to absorb the creams... and also, its looks more easy to put fondant/butter cream on solid cakes :) But THANKS for all tips Im going to use from you!

As a non-professional I hadn't thought of baking and freezing, so I have done it in two days or even on one day, starting really early in the morning! 🙈

How long do the cakes keep on the freezer? And how do you store the syrups, sauces and buttercream? How long would these keep?

Definitely pace myself. I try not to invite more stress than I already have while baking a cake 😂

I was doing all things on one day. It was very tiring. I will make the frosting today and bake the cake on Friday for Easter.

Oh my goodness 😫 I wish I would of seen this video prior to May! My friend wanted me to make her son’s 18th birthday cake, along w| cupcakes. This was my first big order for an event (talking about anxiety through the roof) and I felt so defeated afterwards. One of the colors of icing was supposed to be red and it would not go past pink. Most definitely using this advice going forward. I have a birthday cake to do next week. Wish me luck! TFS ❤️

I will definitely try this method. I’ve never prepped a cake up to a week in advance. I’m sure this will make my life so much easier ☺️
I usually make my icings and fillings first and make my cake layers as soon to the day as possible. So I must confess, I have never frozen my cake layers for a long time and thawed them to assemble a cake. I only chill them briefly. I always fear they will be dry and not taste as moist as when I first bake it. I’m going to try this method. I need to work on my sketches. Whenever i try, it’s always horrible😩

I’m practicing to make cakes, n I’m making 2 this week for Halloween, 1 for my kids and the other for my neighbor as a treat. So I baked some already. Finish it tomorrow so Thursday I can decorate and Friday take it to her. Can I decorate cake then freeze it?

Whenever I am freezing my cake it is getting dry, even if I keep it in room temperature for long time.Does the outside temperature effecting it as I live in a cold place or is there any temperature check to do. Is there any way to preserve the cake without freezing

I am learning the art of pacing myself because I have definitely done some of the “no-no’s” on your list. Videos like this always reinforce the value and importance of pacing myself, especially with full time school and full time work😮. Thank you!❤
