The Most AMAZING Vanilla Cake Recipe

Made from scratch with only a handful of ingredients, this Vanilla Cake Recipe is the perfect dessert for any occasion. Far from boring, this classic cake is flavorful and has a tender and moist crumb. It’s so light, fluffy, and easy to make that you’ll never go back to box mix!

Whether you are making a cake for a birthday party, wedding, or just a general get-together, it is hard to go wrong with this traditional vanilla cake recipe. I think this the best vanilla cake recipe out there as it has a buttery and perfectly even crumb that holds up well on its own but will practically melt in your mouth when you take a bite. I've updated my vanilla cake recipe for an even more tender crumb and foolproof bake no matter what climate or season you're in!

▢ 2½ cups all-purpose flour (280g)
▢ 2¼ tsp baking powder
▢ ¾ tsp salt
▢ 1⅔ cups granulated sugar (333g)
▢ ¾ cup unsalted butter room temperature (170g)
▢ 3 large eggs room temperature
▢ 1 Tbsp vanilla (15mL)
▢ 1 cup buttermilk (240mL)

2 1/2 cups- flour (put in a bowl)
3/4 tsp- salt (add in)
2 1/4 tsp- baking power (add in)
3/4 cup- butter (beat till fluffy in a separate bowl)
1 2/3 cup- sugar (add into butter mixture)
3- eggs (add into butter and sugar mixture, one at a time)
1 tbsp- vanilla (add into the mixture above)
*combine the two mixtures adding 1 cup of the flour, salt and baking power mixture into the wet mixture (try and make everything room temp)*
1 cup- buttermilk (add into the wet mixture as you are combining everything) *I used regular milk as I didn’t have buttermilk*
*measure and pour into your tins that you are going to cook in* *If you are using two tins, there should be about 600g in each*
*cook at 350 for 30 mins*

I have watched this video like 15 times in the past week because I wanted to make this for my sister's birthday and i wanted to get it right. This is the absolutely the best vanilla cake and buttercream you will ever taste! I made this as a sheet cake (13x9). It took about 5 minutes longer to bake. I made a little less frosting than the recipe - using only 1 cup of butter and roughly 4 cups of powdered sugar. This was not the overly sweet buttercream most of us are used to. This is much softer and melts in your mouth. FANTABULOUS!
