So much love for you Matt! I just built a beautiful computer out of many of the components you mentioned in a previous video. Thank you so much! My computer is so bad ass now. I've never had a computer this great and it cost me under $900. Keep up the great work, Matt!!

I'm a film student who, because I no longer have access to the school labs, needs an editing computer! You video on building was helpful and I know I can do it, however, how do I get the operating system on. What do I do after it's all built?
Thanks for being out there and making clear content!

Loving your content about buying and building 4K video editing system. I just wanted to tell you that this type of content is very much appreciated... When I build my own system I'll definitely be watching your "how to" video on the topic. Keep up the excellent content.

Matt! You should a breakdown of these options and show how much you would save if you built the pc yourself with the exact same components

At lower price ranges you have to trade off something. Might be GPU, CPU, RAM or SSD. Anyway a bit of guide:
CPU: Ryzen 3700X or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (depends if your software of choice needs more GPU vs more CPU)
GPU: 8GB+ VRAM at least. So leaves with RTX2060 or 2070 depending what you decide above. AMD isn't bad but I don't recommend it.
RAM: 2x16GB CL14 to CL16 at 3600Mhz (depends on CPU). Leaves you room for another x2 16GB for a total of 64GB
SSD: for OS, 500GB is enough if you are planning this to be work only machine. This leaves you with upgrades down the road for a NVME scratch in the M.2 slot OR alternatively change the 500GB SSD for scratch and get a 1TB new SSD (leaving nvme still free for something else in the future, like active footage storage).
Mobo: with 1 M.2 for future scratch/footage disk, try and go for USB 3 Gen 2 (5Gbps vs 10Gbps, huge diff).
PSU: Seasonic, Evga G2/G3, Corsair RMX
Case: If its under desk get something with good filtration to prevent dust. Above, tempered glass <3
Monitor: IPS 4K+

*Here is a budget build:*

I say budget, it's around £1, 150 GBP but you can play around with the CPU/GPU configurations to make it lower. It's important to invest little more and still have slots for improvements down the line. For instance, above shows space for more/better storage and additional x2 memory sticks. A good MOBO can future proof you well, unless it's at the end of its socket life cycle which atmo is closing (DDR5, PCIE5, new AMD CPUs will be coming in the next 2-3 years).

Thanks! Been thinking of either buying a pre-built pc or upgrading a existing one that I custom built a few years ago. Looking to build something for gaming, streaming, and somewhat future proof for a few years and be able to do VR.

Definitely. I think a laptop version of this video is definitely welcomed. For of us that travel from time to time and dont want to go all Apple

That's the toughest thing just getting into DAW style at home (despite knowing it well already from others) Was everything was game driven sites. Not many builders that will say, yea video is just dual monitor. Multi cores are based off single core speed, but with enough cores when needed. Its hard to get those game based sites. To pull out this option, save 400 there to add this option. Need a few more of the audio build companies.

Love this Matt - but also your “build your own” do you think it’s worth getting separate sound cards as well?

I like the power of these gaming desktops but don't need the disco lightshow many come with. For example, the Cyberpower lineup seems to be a pretty good deal, but I don't see an option for a plain black box with no side window or internal lights. Could omitting the "flash" help whittle off a few bucks for those of us who think the "show" is on the monitor, not the PC box. I do photo editing, no games, so while I like the power of some of these PC, the lights are more a distraction than anything.

love ya matt, since i saw your budget for building a pc, i've been looking into parts, so sadly most of the prebuilt computers come with cheap ass power supplys, and that's where everyone says you shouldnt cheap in :c, thanks for this videos matt, much love <3
