How to sound interesting in English | varied pitch vs. monotone | intonation

You always hear accent and voice coaches saying that you have to change your pitch when speaking English. But.. What is 'pitch'? and how do we control it?
No, you don't have to be a singer to change your pitch. You just need to learn a little more about your voice (and to see that it's actually not that complicated to change your pitch when speaking).
Varied pitch created interest, and engagement and helps you convey your message effectively.

I can’t thank you enough. This is exactly what I am missing in my English to sound perfect and accurate and pin point American accent until I discovered this video.
You are love, Hadar.

Incredible! Despite being a native English speaker I've been monotonous most of my life, it's something I've been trying to work on though and vids like this definitely help. I've still got a lot of work to do before I've mastered speaking melody, just switching between high and low pitches seems to put strain on my throat :(.

This might be the reason why I feel my pronunciation is better when I'm singing haha. Great video, thank you! I'll work on this ✌

Thank you Hadar. My tone used to sounded flat, because, but since i started to use the shadowing technique with you and other you tubers, i noticed that when i speak in English, i sound more musical. I still have a long way to run but, at least i feel that i have improved a lot thanks to your tips. Again, thank you so much.

Intonation is driving me nut! I try to be more rythmic but I find myself overpitching and my first language rythm takes over. Thanks Hadar for these tips! Btw, you look stunning as always!

Sometimes people don’t want to overdo it and find it safe to just be flat. Great video!

Love this video. I wish there were more like this one. You talk in a fun way. Makes me think of the few teachers that I could engage with.

I grew up in Sweden speaking Swedish as my 1st language, but was fluent in english from a young age. I moved to the US almost 20yrs ago and am married to an American. Even after all these years I still get the occasional 'whats that accent' question. It used to REALLY bother me and make me self conscious, but nowadays I just brush it off with a 'yeah it come out every now and then'. However.. after someone asked me about my accent last night (I seriously can't hear my own accent when I speak! and have never really understood how some people pick up on my accent within minutes of me talking!!?) I decided to record myself (reading back some of the words, sentences and lines you have in your videos).. AND I now realize my problem isnt my pronunciation of things..its the lack of pitch changing. I never realized how monotone my voice can be in english 🤭

I found that we need to play with our words. Anytime wherever we speak, we have to speak freely by letting our jaws free. Thank you so much.
