I've used raw walnuts and water, you let them sit in it for a day or two or till the waters slightly green, then dump it and after a while the worms will come up

my dad taught me this when I was little I've made it better by using a cheap dog chain on a small tree it vibrates out further and brings more worms to the surface

the vibration off the stick is supposed to simulate water hitting the ground good way for fish bait
