Inside our small community in Pine Point, on the White Earth Reservation, R.D. Offutt once owned 160 acres of land.
R.D Offutt is the largest producer of potatoes in America. Supplying companies like McDonalds fast food restuarant. In Northern Minnesota, they are one of the largest user of pesticides. Wreaking havoc on our lands and polluting our waterways with their toxic agricultural runoff.
This land was purchased by Anishinaabe Agriculture Institute's sister company Akiing in February 2022. After years of industrial use, this land was thought to be useless. However, in our fields today, this land is showing us her resilience.
