Born. They just need to come out. I was born a conservative but raised by liberal parents and claimed to lean left for a while but as I grew up and got more into politics I realised I was really a conservative and came out in April.

I really liked the bit about how society needs both messy artists and uptight soldiers, then I scrolled down to the comment section and saw that most commentors couldn't get past their own biases and sit here wishing we could get past this poisonous divide we're in.

Thats bullshit, we need some of both?! Almost every politician in Denmark is a social liberal, even the Conservative party. Almost everything is funded by the government and havent gone to shit, so we actualy dont need a lil bit of everything

Any person is going to be open to new ideas on some subjects, but not on other subjects.

So every person is both conservative and liberal.

If you are not open to new ideas on a subject, then you are conservative about that subject. If you are open to new ideas on a subject, then you are liberal about that subject.

Isn't this whole argument of Prof Heidt, based on an assumtion though? The assumption that likes attact, versus opposites? I think of a couple of Journalists on CNN, I think it is/was, Mary Matelin & Mr. James Carville: r they an exception to the rule?-if memory serves me correct, 1 is Dem the other Gop orientated.
So, what if there is another social phenoma too? What if 'opposites attract, '&, there is a major group that gets bored with the same old neat, conservative office&wants to spice it up?

my dad is hardcore right and I'm more left so I think growing up you see the worse of the side you see more. I think if I grew up in a left family I would be more conservative
