I literally do a weekly 36 hour fast, which is basically one day of no eating at all. Superb results. I do the regular 16:8 fast the other days, just because I've gotten used to it at this point. The added 36 hour weekly fast has really helped me remain fat adapted despite adding plenty of healthy carbs like legumes and fruits, and it gives me a lot of leeway when it comes to remaining in an overall calorie deficit. Highly recommend it!

In 2006 I was 250 lbs and I didn't know anything about fasting all I knew was have a higher caloric out put than in put. So that's what I did I ate 1 meal a day and drank water when I felt hungry. I started this on the 4th of July and by the time August came around I had lost 50 pounds I got all the way down to 160 in less than a year.

I did a 7-day fast and it pretty much broke my addiction and habituation to food and realized that we're just creatures of habit and our food and taste habits are exactly that. Habits. Once you see it you can't un see it. I can now fast any length at ease without feeling hungry. I always feel great, mentally sharp and can exercise (usually a 5-10k run or workout) fasted. I am currently doing 2 x 48 hr fasts Mon-Fri. OMAD on Mon, Wed and Fri with Tues and Thurs no food.

Love this! Love the idea of changing it up to make it a little tougher to increase the benefit… I absolutely find myself falling into a routine

I think I needed to hear this. I been doing a 18:6 for several years now. I would do 24 hr fast every once in awhile, took breaks on vacation or holidays obviously, but back to it. Times were always set because they were easy and it allowed me to eat lunch with co-workers and dinner with family. I think I need to switch it up since its become too easy that I don't even think about it anymore.

I remember I did alternate day fasting without knowing such thing existed. I actually did it because I was too lazy to cook some days lmao without knowing the benefits of prolonged fasting.

Lots of great comments and encouragement. I am turning 51 in 20 days. I just went back onto Keto or close to Keto 1.5 months ago. Ibwent from 196 to 186 pounds. For those struggling to be able to fast. Please take baby steps and persistent is the key. Once you get off sugar and carbs you wont crave food. I eat 3 meals a day and I am never hungry. Every meal is a good amount of protein. I hit a wall at 188 pounds, but changed from daily elliptical to 10k steps a day. Now i moved 186 and starting to move lower. I even had a home baked slice of pizza and it didn't stop me. I guess I am fat adapted now. I wish to start fasting when i hit the next wall. The best I have done was a 24hr fast. I wish to reach 36 at least once this year.

I did a one day on/one day off fasting for a week and felt great. 7 consecutive days is my max. Never felt bad, just could not stop thinking about food at day 6.

The hardest fast I ever did was started after breakfast. I stimulated my digestion, and then fought hunger HARD all day. Afternoon/evening/night time start felt more natural and didn't come with a hosts of pain and brain fog.

You have a great point Thomas. It’s probably beneficial to try different timings. Personally I go for easier times for me so that I’m more likely to stay committed when I am fasting.

After doing intermitente fasting daily for years, and some 24-48 dry fasts It is my opinión the BEST fasting experience Ive had its a water fast.Im currently at 48h.yesterday around the 20-24h I had an amazing clear head cognitive función, amazing energy to work out.and the second day has more significante phisical chances..fat burning, eyes gone skin and antiinflatory effect on my feet. Now Im moving ahead to my last day and Im probably gonna push It to 5 days.I just simply feel wonderful.like my whole body IS with energy folowing .Im.not drinking too much.I dont even count I just drink a glass of water or 2 when I feel like it.or take a shower to invigorate myself.Im gonna do a 24h water fast weekly.and a 72h monthly.eventually I probably go for 72h weekly.not to mention the extra amount of time that you have to work or work out.and the time you save from thinking planning preparing meals and buying the groceries...and money you save!.so I dont know why It took me this long to get into water fasting but Im all in.on top of that Im usually dehidrated I dont like to drink water.but fasting literally fórceps me to drink more water than I usually drink. So guys...Im hydrated my body IS regenerating..Im finally getting rid of the stubornnlittle fat in my 6 pack that didnt go no Matter how much cardio I did.On preparación I Ate a Big meal of kebup dish with chiken meat rice potato and bread.and salad.around 2 pm. Then I spent the whole afternoon and evening loading Up on gallons of natural juice...watermelon beets Apple carrots Orange..I easily Frank 2-3 litera of natural juice..and Thats the last thing I are around 9 pm.49h now...about to take along walk and work out so I can get the most of HGH and the fact burning benefits of calorie defiency.I Will comment again tomorrow when I reach 72h and tell you if I keep going.By the way dry fasting even for 24h was extremelly hard and I didnt experience all the benefits Im gettin with the water fast. Oh and I have not felt weak no headaches and no cravings.Do like me eat a good high proteína and carb meal...load yourself on vitamina and minerales juicing..and your good to go for the first 24h..those are the most challenging.

Thomas this is one of your best videos on the subject. I like the variability and flexibility as a strategy.

For the last 2 and a half months I'm doing every 2days 47-48 fast. And workout at home with dumbbells. No cardio. Lost 12kg.

I do the opposite approach:
I don't make my eating more of a challenge by rotating everything like in the video in order to break a pattern.
I allow myself a certain freedon around eating. Everything between 16:8 and OMAD (+ occasionally a unplanned 36 hours fast just because I wasn't hungry that evening or I came home late) is ok. That is much easier to me and this "pattern-breaking effect" comes naturally as a side effect. I am never hunrgy in the morning => I would never break a fast in the morning just to follow such a rotation. Sometimes I am hungry in the early afternoon so I eat sooner. Especially when I am busy I often don't get hungry before the late afternoon or evening, then I of course wouldn't break my fast as long as I don't have the desire to.
Of course it always depends on the personal situation. If a body builder wants to force the body into an unhealthy low body fat level it may take extreme measures. I have more than enough body fat, so for me and most random people ketosis + intermittent fasting + occasional longer fasts + significant calorie deficit + some physical activity + some supps is already a hardcore way to loose fat and the strategy is not to make it even harder but to make it easier.

Started my OMAD journey end of august 2022 at 200Lb and by the first week of December I manage to get down to 170Lbs. Cardio and weight training And eating right was the key for me 😊

We are so lucky to live in a country that makes you feel weird about fasting because food is so abundant, but it's a really good thing to do! I do it for weight loss AND for prayer. It has worked wonders for my brain fog, insulin resistance, and my prayer life!
