Using the iPod touch 5 in 2018 - Review

The 6 year old iPod touch 5th generation doesn't look too out of place in 2018- but how does it actually perform? Could it even be worth buying?

I remember being in 6th grade when the iPod 5 came out and everyone wanted an iPod 5. Like every kid that didn’t have some type of Iphone was begging for an iPod 5. They were ridiculously popular. I had an iPhone 4s and upgraded to the 5 that year and no one cared about my black 64gb iPhone 5, everyone wanted a blue or piss yellow iPod. The most popular combination was like some sort of “quick messaging” slider phone and an iPod 5.

I have the iPod 6 and I love it. It is perfect for Twitter as well as for TuneIn Radio and listening to music. If you are a musician, it is the smallest and cheapest iOS device on which the latest version of Garageband will run, including the Alchemy synth.
It takes decent pictures for such a tiny device - what, it even has a flashlight!
The battery is a bit short but it remains usable.
I hope that there will be an iPod Touch 7 because an iPod is the only iOS portable device on which you can listen to your music without being disturbed - if you like music it is a nuisance to get a phone call while you’re listening to your favourite tune. Also I love iMessage because the whole family is on iDevices so it is a cheap and convenient way of communicating. Cheers.

I use an iPod 5 currently. It is useable and is actually not too slow. I can still play games and watch YouTube on it and I can still live with it. I am looking to buy an iPhone seven in a month.

The 16GB iPod Touch 5Gen was made to replace the 4th gen that spiked on sales when it was put on a really low price when the regular one was released. Interesting enough even after its release a lot of people still had a 4th gen, which at the time was still great, so no need to upgrade. On the other side, my 5th gen iPod had battery problems (turned off quickly and was really slow) and after changing the battery, its been working great, its speedy and holds charge for days. I barely use it but its great for music when my iPhone and iPads are charging. Really good little device.

I actually use an iPod 5 as my personal device. It's also what I'm writing this comment on. I've had it since 2014, and I find it still runs iOS 9.3.5 fairly smoothly, and it lasts me a whole day. I understand results vary from device to device though.

My iPod 5 is still on iOS 6.1.3 (I never updated it because at the time I didn't like how different iOS 7 looked) sadly the battery is going bad it doesn't hold a charge as long as it used to and of course most apps don't work on it but I still use it as my alarm clock lmao

Yeah I have an iPod 5. Nowadays my parents use it to play games and listen to music. It's on iOS 9.3.5, so it is slow but still gets the job done. My parents don't seem to be complaining.

I have been using a 5th gen ipod since November 2015, I wasn't sure what apple device I should go to next, but now that the 7th gen came out, I will definitely get that. It will for sure be strange going from ios 9 to 12.
