iPod Touch is actually still a useful device nowadays because it’s so simple and stable.
It is in fact working as my home remote control that I only install apps that are necessary, controlling my air-con, lights, TV and stuff…
HomeKit remote control with coloured monitor and a fancy look, I love it.

We actually use iPods in our business for maintenance staff to log and review work orders. Too big of an expense for new phones when all they need is a cheap, pocketable device with WiFi connectivity.

These are mostly used for businesses and it turns the device into a point of sale station or a handheld scanner if you pair it with a sledge/case with a scanner. I have seen these being used in warehouses, specially for online retail. Some stores like Banana Republic still uses older versions for checking inventory in store or making orders for clients.
