Sean might be one of the best fitness influencers. He just does such a good job cutting through the bs and giving sensible and educated advice!

I would add this: Don't make your deficit too extreme. 250 below maintenance is a good starting point, and 400-600 below will get the job done fine.

I always say that any program that depends totally on willpower and discipline is going to fail eventually because willpower is finite. Your diet and exercise program have to be sustainable.

I think there are easy calories to cut that people underestimate outside of the fitness community.
1- don’t drink your calories (no sugary pop, no sugar and cream coffee, etc)
2- change yours sauces (changing mayo to mustard, ketchup to salsa can easily cut 200-300 calories in someone’s day)
3- snack better

Just that alone will make a huge dent.

Love this no bs content. Great channel.

Two other amazing tips I've heard was to stop snacking. Just stick to 3-5 meals daily and make sure you're portion sizes aren't crazy huge. And learning how to read nutrition labels and about what your goal in calories and macronutrients should be, is also very important.

Same goes for bulking while being skinny. “Just eat more” had the same effect as “calorie deficit”

The main issue is people ask very simple questions that actually have very nuanced answers.
It’s like when people ask “What’s the best exercise for…” without discussing goals or what they have already done.
When people ask how to lose weight, it’s usually in a scenario where you can go into a 1 hour lecture to detail all the steps involved.

I appreciate you Sean, been a loyal follower for years. it's good to have fitness advice that's not biased

Just cause it's sustainable for you doesn't mean it's healthy or unhealthy.
That's something you have to figure out yourself

It takes two to tango though. Most of the time when an argument about it break out people are either claiming that they're straight up exempt of CICO, or that since it's not as exact as rocket science it's useless.
It's not looked down upon to shut down and call out all the other bro-science people keep spouting.

Rare miss. Calorie deficit is not the end, it is the means. If you maintain a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. The weight loss is the goal.

What Sean says here is what I’ve done the past 14-15 months and have lost a total of 120LB’s got 50LB to go for goal weight. Keep it simple and have the food you like in moderation, if you want cereal fucking have your cereal LMAO just count what you eat it’s not that difficult, replaced most of my sugar with sweeteners or calorie dense food with lighter alternatives. Best of luck with your journey peeps 🫡

I've been listening to you for over a year now. I'm down 40 pounds and having no issues keeping it off. I'm also looking pretty ripped.

Thank you 😊

Fasting from waking up to 4pm is what helped me. That means in that time frame max calories are 50. That's one espresso for me. Above 50 you won't be in fasting state.

For me — calorie deficit while focusing on eating in has been key.

I still eat pizza, fried chicken and cake every night, but it’s the lower calorie alternative. Keeps me sane and honestly, eating out doesn’t really appeal to me much anymore.

I've had covid for the last week; by far the worst part has been not working out, but I'm gonna try to today.
