When I cut chicken and pork out of my puppies diet to resolve an allergy issue, she went off eating her raw food. The main problem was she didn't like duck necks but happily ate chicken feet and legs. Despite chopping the duck necks into smaller and smaller pieces, she will only eat them if they are very lightly fried (on a very low heat just to change the outer texture. Having got used to lightly cooked chopped bones, she refused to eat the rest of her meal unless it was lightly cooked as well. I know this reduces the 'goodness' of the food but at the moment, it's either that or back to kibble. :-( Thanks for doing more puppy videos, It would be nice to have more in-depth ones on the missing nutrients and the higher ratio of liver and other secreting organs for puppies. For example, how much bone meal powder for puppies? It doesn't say anywhere.

I'm personally totally for raw feeding but I don't. I'm getting a new German Shorthair pup. I'll be feeding a high quality kibble but I always add other stuff like an egg or bits of quail. I'm a falconer so I basically feed scraps that I don't feel like giving the bird. Every day I feed a very specific amount to the bird depending on how much he weighs that day. Say I thawed a 150g quail but I only need to give the bird 120g I'll give the extra bit to the dog. This might be wings, legs or a head. I've always done this and it works well.

I had just started weaning my pugs (ages 2 and 5 at the time) onto raw when we got our Norwegian Elkhound. I was not confident enough to do raw for him ... I tried to research but there wasn't a ton of info on raw feeding puppies. Therefore I stuck with puppy kibble until he was neutered at 13 months. Then I put him on Darwin's and now I do DIY / Darwin's / a local pet deli recipe, depending on my budget and how busy I am for the coming couple of weeks. I kinda felt bad going from diy to premade grinds, but it alleviated so much time and stress from me when I started working full time that I felt better about it than going back to kibble for the convenience. They do still get some small meaty bones (usually chicken) 1-2 times a week for teeth brushing and mental stimulation purposes. I can't unlearn what I know about raw feeding and dog nutrient absorption to make be ever go back, but I do always keep in mind something you said in an older video: a commercial food of any type will always be better than an unbalanced homemade food, cooked or not.

To get my puppy to eat raw after imprinting on kibble and wet, I would play with the food with him. I'd have him chase the meaty bones and I just got him to chew thru organs and thicker muscle by holding it while he tries it. Agitate him by playing a little tug of war and he wanted to bite and chew more on his own. Now he doesn't need any help and links every bowl clean.

Both of my dogs are on a raw diet and my puppy when we got him we let him try raw meat and he loved it also they both can transition between raw meat and dog food and they are both very healthy
