My 1yo gsd has been raw fed his whole life. Every dog in my extended family has been converted over after seeing the results with my guy. I buy premixed randomly but we mainly feed him 1.5lb bags of frozen meat that I prepare once a month. Its really not bad spending 2 hours a month cutting up chunks of meat, organ and bone and bagging it up in medium sized ziplock freezer bags. Once you build a couple of bags using a scale you get the idea of what the composition looks/feels like. We dont measure anything any more. Supplement with frozen whole fish, eggs, KELP POWDER (dont forget), blueberries, broccoli, blue/green lipped mussels, oysters, etc. Let them go nuts on the odd rib eye and you will have one happy pup!

Perfect timing! Just finished portioning 60lbs of raw food for our 2 year old German shepherd. He also eats once a day and we still train every day at a meal time. He's hand fed and we just thaw it enough to break it apart into smaller pieces and get our training in that way. No gloves LOL.

I put a chicken carcass in a crockpot. Make bone broth. Once the bone broth is done blend the carcass. The bones are so soft they will turn to a paste. Add the egg shells. Takes a few minutes. I put mine in silicone trays. Already portioned out.

I switched to a raw chicken base with chicken livers and gizzards and chicken quarters with bone in, and 1/2 lb of ground turkey or ground beef for about 2 lbs once a day, eliminated 80% of the poop which my dog had a habit of eating, no longer, also. Poop is now very small in comparison with no oder, and water consumption is half what it used to be, hard to go back to kibble, American Bully 85 lbs 18 mo.

Perfect timing, I had just recently done the same. His whole quality of life is much better. And I must say, he has an impressive physique on him now with energy like never before

Been feeding our adult beagle mix rescue a raw diet for a good while now and transitioned our new 5 month old shepherd mix rescue from Romania to raw. Ideally you feed raw 2.5% - 3% of a dog's ideal ADULT weight in raw protein daily. 10% RAW bone and 10% liver/kidney/heart of that weight on top. I add cooked rice and green veg to help with fiber and stool consistency and feed them primarily chicken. Taking the time to properly feed a dog a well balanced diet is just as important as training them and aids in further fortifying a strong relationship.

Yay for Jasper! I just did this switch recently too, though I still kept about 40% as kibble for training treats, and partly because I have to budget right now. But my dog looks so good, and his fur is so soft and beautiful, I could never go back.

Love it! started feeding my 15 yo Basenji raw; the difference in her teeth/gum health in a few weeks was impressive! when I get my Malinois, I plan to feed raw as well. Thanks for sharing; keep up the awesome work!!!

Looks like you have an Ameraucana laying those pretty green eggs...lol I started feeding my dogs raw when my then 1 yr old was getting scummy teeth, we started with bones - pig necks, they knew how to work a neck! Then I got the meat mix from a local butcher and add in veggies. My little girl got the plushest nicest coat, well defined muscles and was walking (well trotting) in the bush on our couple hour walks up to her last couple months at almost 18yrs, my little guy got better dental, and now keeps up with a jack russell youngster at 10yrs. Raw all the way, and dehydrated ground organs for treats. Really enjoy your channel!

Andy, it’s worth considering adding a sprinkle of barley grass powder/dried ground kelp/alfalfa powder (I alternate) and a sprinkle of brewers yeast to cover micronutrient bases, it’s not necessary according to a lot of raw feeders but my dogs have been on raw for 5 years and I DEFINITELY noticed shinier coats when I started adding those 18 months ago. You can also put a little freshly crushed garlic or dried garlic powder in a few days a week, it’s good for the blood and my dogs never get fleas or ticks. Jasper really scarfs that down like he’s never tasted anything so good 😊

Hey Andy. I haven’t commented in a while as I’ve been working with our Malinois (Achilles) we sent him to a pro here in Colombia. Our trainer will only feed raw diet with a handful of purina pro plan performance. Our dogs coat and health is amazing. Not to mention the poop is very small compared to other types of feed. Keep making great videos. Be well brother

I had my GSD on kibble for 7 years as well. Switched her over to raw 6 months ago and it cured her extremely itchy skin and now her coat is soft and fluffy. Mine is mostly on raw pork and chicken that I grind myself. I just buy raw whole chicken legs when on sale and drop them in my grinder and ziplok bag them up into meals and freeze. She gets 3/4 lb two times a day.

Great decision. Make your own. Its easy
just need a serious grinder and way cheaper. We make our food once a week for the weeks.

Fed my mali raw for basically her whole life I get mine from a company that has a ton of different options for example they have fish, beef, chicken and lot more. Training with her breakfast and dinner is disgusting but she’s very motivated

I like Blue Ridge Beef brand puppy formula. Ground beef, chicken, organ meat, bone and green tripe. Perfect for every stage of life.

We’ve fed our dogs raw for years. Pretty sure it’s why they lived as long and healthy as they did. We use a brand (Pets Go Raw) that makes it into patties for us. For training I let it thaw for about 15 minutes on the counter, then cut it up into little cubes, put the cubes on cookie sheets, and then put them in the freezer. The little cubes of raw food can be put into a bag for training, and it isn’t quite as sloppy and icky that way. The dogs gobble them down frozen without any issues.
