Best African Cichlids for Beginners!

Welcome back to the channel! In this video I wanted to show case my tank and the African Cichlids that I have started with. The fish in this video are very easy to care for even for beginners! Each one of these fish in the video can easily be found in your local fish store or online. Inexpensive and beautiful in color!

I DO NOT recommend buying any fish from chain stores such as PetCo or Petsmart. I would ALWAYS recommend your local privately owned fish stores or a trusted online breeder.

Not sure about buying fish online? No worries, check out my first video I posted on Unboxing my fish!

Due to some copy right issues the music cut in and out a lot throughout the video so I apologize. Hit me up for any questions or comments!

What's up Mike? I just got into the hobby about nine months ago. I had a 55 gallon since about 1996. Didn't know anything about fish, I just wanted a nice aquarium. I let it shut down about five years ago because being a truck driver, I didn't have time for it. I came across a video of Kaveman Aquatics 9 months ago and I got interested. I watched all of Kev's videos and started researching about fish and the fish hobby. Things about having an aquarium that I never knew about. All those years of having one, all I was doing was buying pretty fish and throwing them in the tank. I have no idea how they didn't die. I was changing water about every other month. Didn't know anything about nitrates and ammonia, and PH. Now I've learned so, so much. I bought a new 55 gallon and I have 36 Glo Tetras all colors, a Siamese algae eater, a Silver Fox algae eater, and a Super Red Pleco. I'm now going to meet up with a company that customizes acrylic tanks because I want to put a 65 gallon in a sitting room of ours and put nothing but Mbunas in there. Later on I would like to purchase a 75 gallon and put all Peacocks in there. I really enjoy this hobby, even down to the frequent water changes. Just so relaxing. After a long day of driving a tractor trailer dealing with this Atlanta traffic, I need some relaxation. Mike, the 65 gallon that I'm getting is 36" (W) X18" (D) X 24" (H). I would like to do at least 10 Mbunas all males if possible in this 65 gallon. Do you have any suggestions on what would be the best Mbunas to get?

Interesting how you have mbuna and peacocks in the sames tank. How are your aggression issues? And feedings going?

How are your fish going with some females in the tank? Is there any aggression? I’m starting up a 55 gallon male tank I have a 36 gallon Bowfront right now with an OB Peacock and a Strawberry Cichlid for now
