I would if I had the means to investigate put cameras all through one or more of these hot spots even put a camera on already tagged & tracked wildlife in these places & run a 24-hour 7 live feed to try & figure out this phenomenon or at least witness it just witnessing it alone would be valuable

I need to warn people who go hiking to do some serious leg stretching before you go. I ran cross country and track and played basketball in Jr High and had so many sprained ankles. Sprain ankle is doable if you are hiking to leave the area, not the warning I'm talking about. When i was 45-50 yrs old i was just starting to wheel barrel some dirt and the first barrel had me on the ground crying in pain !!!! It felt like someone hit me behind my left calf like right at the joint in the back. I was just on the regular flat ground in the yard, no hills or rocks. I couldn't put any weight on my leg i had to hop on one leg the car. It wasn't a pulled muscle, i had a bunch of those bcuz i framed houses for a job. Turned out to be a partial ruptured gastrocnemius that holds the muscle to the bone. For a few days I couldn't put any weight on it and was on crutches for 6 months !! I can just imagine this happening to hikers. They are screwed, can't move and maybe in shock from the amount of serious pain. Especially if it's a full rupture that is completely detached. Can't be fixed, and mine makes me limp and my leg still bows in these years later which causes the kneecap to hurt. Take a flare gun and sat phone if you get lost or stranded
