Tumbler Knife Sharpening System - Razor Sharp Knives in Minutes?

I find the Instagram/Facebook ads for the Tumbler knife sharpening system to be strangely hypnotic. Can you really get any knife razor sharp? Can you sharpen knives as quickly and easily as their ads seem to suggest?

In this video, I give the Tumbler a spin (pun intended) on both an average chef's knife and a very dull knife that I found at a thrift store.

The discount Tumbler offers seems to vary. For example, at the time of this posting, it's 24%. No coupon code or mailing list subscription is necessary if you use the link.

My planned recipe video for this week didn't turn out, so this is the next closest thing: a review of a kitchen tool. I'll have another recipe video next week.

So many ways to sharpen a knife it is crazy. Looks like a nicely made system though for light work. Thanks for posting.

I bought the tumbler because whetstones are challenging to get a consistent angle. It might not be the finest edge but it is much easier to get good edge for using your knives for food than any other simple sharpening system. Great honest review

"Looks like it should be on an executive desk" crazy scenario ran through my head at this comment....LOL - subordinate comes in to talk with boss - hey what's that cool thing on your desk? I use it to keep my knives sharp. Why do you need knives? You never know.... ;-)

Nothing beats the Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener, razor sharp results in less than 3min.

Retail meatcutter here for almost 35 years. I started 1974 when I was 18 years old. And I only bought and used Forschner knives from Germany, and I still have some to this day and I have my favorite steel that brings the edges back up. I even had names for favorite knives. My most favorite stubby I still use in my kitchen, I keep it in a case because it is so sharp. This is roller thingy is very intriguing for sure. I hated sharpening my knives, we used to wetstone. Also, I regret selling my wetstone 3 stone holder with mineral oil mot. I still have the 3 levels of coarse stones, but not the mechanism that held the mineral oil. Sharp knives a must for retail meat cutter. Thanks for sharing. Oh I just looked up and saw the hair on the leg being shaved. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😮

My first thought was that you would be rolling the sharpener next to the knife so it works like a grinder and a stone at the same time.

I got a Trizor myself and I've seen these and they look real nice but oh boy are they proud of it.

i have the tumbler, you gotta put some pressure while going through the pass. i usually take about 30 seconds to do the whole sharpening thing.

I like the concept because everything is referenced to the flat surface. I think it needs more grits and how do you do things like cleavers and pairing knives.

As an avid knife sharpener the only advice I give folks is that if you don't sharpen until you get the burr rolled over the entire length of the blade before you switch sides, you will never have a sharp knife.

I count the number of passes for each side of the knife so it’s the same number passes. Put pressure on it. Some knives are made of cheesy metal, don’t waste your time. I don’t have a lot of patience so I can finish five knives within 10 minutes. You have to keep up your sharpening, depending on use of the knives. This is great product. There are other sharpeners that you can change the grit of the sharpening material but way more money this product is great for me.

That old knife looks like it came out of my grandmother’s knife drawer LoL! I suck at sharpening knives. This system seems kinda foolproof.

I thought most every day thin blade knives are sharpened to 20°. 15° is usually reserved for high carbon Damascus type steel.
