I don't support Common Core because it forces a "one size fits all" approach to students, which is horrible because every student learns differently and has unique talents and abilities. Secondly, the fact that many educators had no say in the implementation and creation of Common Core, along with educators disapproving the Common Core system, just shows that federal government shouldn't be involved in the making of school curriculums. This sort of power should be left to the schools and state governments. Lastly, Common Core only teaches to the test, which neglects true learning. It's like being taught the process of fixing a toilet and then taking and passing a test based on fixing a toilet, but when it comes to the time where you have to fix a toilet, you don't know how to do it because you were only taught how to pass a test, but no hands on skills. Overall, I thought this video was well presented and had good explanations, however I did not like the first half of the video, where one of the students refused to watch the science video, jut because it goes against his faith. People need to understand that science is true, whether you believe in it or not. It's ok to have your faith and be religious, but it's not good to deny science and force your religious beliefs on others. Also, a majority of the American population is scientifically illiterate, compared to countries in western Europe and the rest of the world, which isn't good, therefore science should be taught in schools. But altogether, I do think the Common Core system is flawed and it's not necessarily a partisan issue. (Especially since I consider myself to be moderate to liberal and I'm against the Common Core).

As an Autistic individual, Common Core math was hell. Most individuals with a special disability have problems with Common Core math. What I said isn't for everyone, but I know many, many, individuals such as myself who hate Common Core. Now everyone has their own method to math, and that is how it should be. Unlike Common Core mathematics (if you can even really call it mathematics) is forced upon our children. There should be much more freedom when it comes to math. Whether it be traditional, or different methods to help children understand it and solve it. Other than that, I could care less. But most other curriculums do better than Common Core. Those are just my thoughts.

I was totally okay with this video until the scene from 2:26-2:31. The Common Core is NOT only supported by liberals. In fact, many liberals disagree with it-- myself included. In addition, there are many conservatives that condone the common core. This issue is not based on your political affiliation. The LAST thing we need in this country is another thing to be divided about.

It angers me that I was a part of this experiment. In math class during tests I got a crap grade because my answers were wrong. Confused my mom did the questions herself and found out my answers were right but how I solved the problem was what flunked me. And she had an argument over the teacher because of it.

Also during classes teachers spent all day not helping teach us but focusing on a few who were troubled the most and leaving us all alone. All I learned was if you do bad you get help and attention. If you do well you get nothing.

I was just telling my husband we need to homeschool. I was helping my 4th grader with comparing fractions. He had to draw a bunch of boxes to figure it out. I showed him a quick easy way to do it but he said he’s not allowed to do it that way or he will be marked wrong.

Being stardust is what SHOULD be taught in schools because that is what scientific, OBJECTIVE truth. But that's besides the point. The problem with Common Core is the regulations. Telling public school teachers what they must do and mustn't do. Some children just won't make it, that's a fact.
