I’ve recently been setting up like this and found much more consistency and distance. The other thing I found was when addressing the ball the club may be off centre, either toe or heel. I now align centre with the tee instead of the ball. It avoids the optical illusion and concentrates the mind. Perfect centre strikes each time without thinking or adjusting your swing. Thanks.

I recently got myself one of those gizmos to draw straight lines on the ball, and using them to help me align my driver clubface with the ball. It has helped me to improve my driving so much that my driver is now my favorite club in my bag. I now hit it about 245, which is not too bad for a 68 year old golfer.

Tried this today during my round of 18. For me it worked like clockwork. Turns out I was building my stance around my sternum, not around the shat being neutral. That and shallowing the club on the downswing produced straight ball flights for me. Thanks, coach Ryan!

One thing worth stating is that grip pressure depends on swing speed. The higher the speed, the more pressure required. Loose grip and high swing speed equals spraying your driver all over the place for most amateurs.

Nice tips. I remember reading back in the October 1993 Golf magazine article where Butch Harmon talked about the changes he and Greg Norman made to Greg Norman's setup and swing. Among the changes was were Norman positioned his hands and the shaft. Norman went from hands center and shaft tilted back to hands forward and shaft straight up and down. Besides club face alignment being effected Butch said it effected path. Harmon said the hands back lead to an out-to-in swing and a block, and he said the hands closer to the target lead to swinging the club on an inside path.

Point #1 is interesting. I started placing the driver in the middle of my body, a good 4 inches or more behind to ball on the tee. I got the idea from watching Moe Norman videos. It's working fantastic for me as far as accuracy. Your point #1 kind of confirms why my accuracy has gone up. Thanks!

Shaft lean at address portion was an aha moment for me I think. I set up with the ball way forward in my stance and I think I struggle with alignment cause I don't think about what I do with the shaft from my address position
