Показать описание
In this episode, my guest is Dr. Teo Soleymani, M.D., a double-board-certified dermatologist and specialist in skin cancer and reconstructive surgery. We discuss science and clinically supported protocols to improve skin health and give your skin a more youthful appearance and structure, reducing premature aging and skin cancer risk.

We discuss the impact of sun exposure on skin appearance and aging and the surprising relationship between sun exposure and skin cancer. We explain how mineral-based (inorganic) sunscreens differ from chemical (organic) sunscreens, whether sunscreen can minimize premature skin aging, reduce cancer risk, and if there are any health risks associated with sunscreen use.

We discuss skincare routines to significantly improve skin appearance and how to select skincare products. We discuss how caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and stress impact the skin and describe how nutrition and anti-inflammatory diets can improve skin health. We also discuss the causes and treatments for common skin conditions, including dandruff, acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo.

Our conversation also covers topics such as the use of retinoids, laser treatments, red-light phototherapy, supplements, and how to best monitor for skin cancer. This episode provides numerous actionable protocols, most of which are zero-to-low cost, for improving skin health and appearance, reducing cancer risk, and treating skin problems.

I went to a rheumatologist for my psoriatic arthritis last year. It had gotten so bad in my knees that I was limping. Doc was quick to prescribe medicine with a long list of negative side effects. He spoke of no other means of remedy. My wife (a dietitian) wasn't a fan of the visit. She recommended that I first eliminate sugars, gluten, processed foods, and alcohol (basically follow a Paleo diet) and try to better monitor my stress (practice mindfulness and exercise.) I did all of that and within just a few weeks my symptoms improved significantly. A year has passed and I feel fantastic.

Moral of the story - Eat clean and be merry. It'll do the body good.

Great conversation. Dr. Teo is so good at clear explanations.
If he is invited again, please discuss aging skin: crepey skin, combating thinning skin and easy bruising.

Dr Tao can also be an awesome Speech teacher. His speech is so clear, the speed is perfect. No ‘umm’ and ‘you know’ with every sentence. The information is delivered in a concise and complete manner. And of course, Dr Andrew’s voice is a gift. Can’t sleep without 20 minutes of his NSDR. We are truly blessed. Years of study and days of preparation are condensed in a podcast available right at our fingertips. Gratefully yours, gentlemen.

I grew up in Eastern Europe i remember women did not have access to a lot of expensive creams and yet had beautiful skin my grandma had no lines and some will say genetics well whatever it was one thing they did NOT do is wear skin makeup. Creams were natural basic people especially loved creams with chamomile, rose or nettles. They loved cucumber as mask for cleanser the most basic soap was popular / Nivea and Oil of Olay was a luxury (the original creams) not the versions we see now, another one was Johnson and Johnson also a luxury for most :)))😊However despite of all women used to see Estheticians on regular basis, facials were incredibly popular and steaming with herbs. Those Estheticians were walking encyclopedias when it came to skin care and they always knew what to do.

1:16:07 I am sorry but this advice is not widespread to all contexts. In europe there are already pleanty sunscreen filters that are not absorve or minimaly absorved. It is only in the USA that the old sunscreen filters still compose the majority of sunscreen protection. If you are in the USA and you don't have access to European approve filters, try to buy La roche posay sunscreen with Meroryl SX and XL. This 2 filters don't have any major side effects associated with them. If you in Europe, look for ultra broadspectrum sunscreen like Avene containing Triasorb or the La roche posay UVmune line, this sunscreens protects against the longest wave UVA spectrum.

Omgosh....thank you so much for this. My daughter died from metastatic melanoma at 27. I've struggled for years with the guilt about not protecting her from the sun.

Thank you for this information. My good friend died from some unexplained skin diseases. He developed a really crazy level of Plague Psoriasis after his cancer treatment a few years ago. Almost his entire body and he would have to exfoliate then moisturize his entire body constantly. He seemed to be getting better but suddenly last year he started getting ulcers popping up little by little then more and more over his body and possibly inside his body. He had a doctors appointment in January and never came back out. He was bed ridden in April and passed away beginning of Aug. His dermatologist is actually also at UCLA. He’s a Veteran and maybe he would have had better care with private insurance.

Additionally I have had a rash and that hasn’t gone away since late 2015 and I believe it’s neurological and my dermatologist just keeps giving me ointments to treat the skin but not the underlying issue. He actually told me that food allergies causing skin issues don’t really exist.

My SO passed away late April and in May and a lot of my hair fell out, . Its calmed down a bit but I hope it will grow back.
