Another smash mentality, mindset, philosophy- whatever you'd like to call it- video.

In this video, I review 5 more emotional pitfalls that Robert Greene covers in his book, Mastery.

In the end, these are called emotional pitfalls for a reason. Humans, by nature, are lazy. We procrastinate. We don't like go back to old thinking, we don't want to exert effort thinking new.

The best advice to you is to get comfortable being uncomfortable. All of these points prove the statement that "you grow outside of your comfort zone".

If you forever stay with what makes you comfortable, you can be sure nothing will improve for you.

The reason these are "emotional pitfalls" is because our emotions naturally allow us to fall into these positions. As human beings, we prefer the path of least resistance. We like to remain in our comfort zones. You might notice that each pitfall discussed is a trap we have a natural tendency to fall into. The more we are aware of them, the more capable we are of catching ourselves committing one of these faults, and we can then direct ourselves in the appropriate direction. I hope you enjoy this one.

1. No JV4? Not good enough.
2. Be unpredictable and creative
3. Lessons can speed boost you but you need to do the work.
4. Keep grinding. No matter how good you are.
5. Stay open minded. Never be fixated on any ideas.

This applies so heavily to me. I remember being back in 3rd grade when I started my interest in trumpet and was nowhere near being as good as my classmates. They once were able to go to a recording studio because they were better than me and I was extremely angry, disappointed and emotional about this. So the year between 5th grade and middle school, I practiced 24/7 and when I came into middle school, I was the best trumpet player there. But even up to this day, having 8 years of experience as a 16 year old I’m still striving to get better and I observe all of my mistakes and ways I could improve by watching better players. Honestly applying this same concept to Smash Bros takes time and I’d love to see where I’m able to go within this new medium.

Good video as always, I personally always have the problem of feeling pessimistic about my progression, always feeling as if I have made no progress at all and doubting my ability to improve. Currently I’m trying to fix this, but this video was a nice help for me, even if my current negative mindset was not discussed, as it helped to realize what I can do.

DKbill you've struck me right on the money again :( last week I was doing well in friendlies against someone who devastated me every match we played before then and how did I reward my progression? By furthering the foundation I've been working on with newfound resolve after realizing "holy crap, my hard work is paying off"? No, by proceeding to blow off practicing smash for the entire rest of the week and instead playing minecraft in a lethargic haze. Complacency is a hell of a drug
