A look at the energy levels of electron orbitals. The video looks at electron pair repulsion and the different electron configuration of chromium and copper. A must view to avoid problems with them tricky exam questions on electron configuration of copper and chromium with explanations!

Px, Py and Pz are orbitals, that 'P-Orbital' is a P Sub-shell. An orbital can hold a maximum of 2 electrons.

I do understand the whole concept and the energy differences etc.

I have a question. When your talking about the spin-pair repulsion, do the electrons spin AROUND the orbitals in the opposite direction or do both of the electrons stay in the same position and rotate in the opposite direction i.e. one electron spins clockwise while the other spins in the anti-clockwise direction, while they are in the same position? I'd appreciate it if you answered. Thanking you in advance.

This was so helpful. Thank you so much.

I’m not sure but I think you may have mixed up Py and Pz orbitals. I think the Pz orbital is meant to be upright along the z axis and Py is at an angle along the y axis

also is it true that in electronic configuration the lowest energy orbital is filled first and during ionization electrons are always lost from the orbital with the highest energy first.i would be delighted should you find the time to answer.PS your videos are a big help.

Hi,
I’m sorry to bother you. But I’m kind of confused to what the point is for the number before the letter. Because it’s not as if it goes in order. Like why does it have to be the 3s orbital? Why can’t it just be s?
Thank you so much for these videos! They are a huge help!

hello teacher!
well, i couldn't get that drawing of a plate, fork and spoon- which are pointed by a blue arrow. on the bottom right . could you please???

so electrons are lost from the highest energy orbital right, so hypothetically speaking if there is an atom in which both 3d and 4s are completely filled and there is no higher orbital so then from which orbital whether 4s or 3d will the electron be lost when the atom is ionized?

May I know what is the shape of the d-orbital?

Hi, so just to confirm the 4s electron is always lost first?
