Should you buy a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max

The reason these Chery videos are so popular is because everyone wants to know why they are such great value for money. Is there a catch perhaps? What I like to call the Chery models (and the other Chinese brands knocking it out of the park), disrupters. And every industry needs a disrupter every now and then. It makes the big dogs check themselves a bit.

For those complaining about fuel consumption, I think it might go down as the engine gets run in. My friends have the Tiggo 8 Pro with the same 1.6 (the max has the 2 litre), and it is a larger car. In city driving they achieve 10.2 litres per hundred. That's purely city driving in traffic which I think is okay for a car of that size. They'll check the highway consumption soon.

Just came back from a visit in SA from Ireland and received one as a rental and was pleasantly surprised with the perceived build quality. Fuel consumption not great though.

It's fact that you hate sunroofs and don't see their purpose. Then you're ducking and diving trying to see what is above the car making a noise😂😂😂😅. I love you.

Awesome video...I am watching this again after watching your sons Jaecoo 7 that featured you (not the other way around) 🙂, I have narrowed down my search to these two and wanted to try and get a sense of which you would prefer. I'm now wondering whether the deciding factor is that the Jaecoo 7 needs the touchscreen for everything and the Tiggo 7 Pro Max needs it for some things as I see some buttons dashboard.

I believe everyone can make their choices even the big brands, trusted one got issues .

I love sunroofs and the larger the better. Always have mine open. I like this review since they do not sell these in the USA.

After sales service isn't great with this brand. Parts availability is also horrible. Saying this from many friends who own chery and every little issue is weeks of waiting. One colleague is already waiting 5 weeks so far for a new throttle module. Hopefully this will change once they become more established and have a greater parts base in the country. Until then... Not touching it.

I think the fact that you are a bombshell helps a lot with the views. Apart from that you are also funny and a great car reviewer.

I have the same model as the one you're reviewing.
Fuel consumption is very high.
Automatic Stop/ Start idle sometimes work.
When it start the car rolls back and I must be on my breaks all the time. It becomes annoying because for the automatic start I must release break. That's when the roll back happens.
I love it though.

the front of this car has a Peugoet 2008 vibe (fangs) to it... That much said, the 2008 is R130K cheaper or thereabout... and it gives you enough. And it's French.... the Tiggo is big on power, but can it use it with the requisite refinement? It doesn't sound like like it - sounds aggressive at best. Peugeot 2008 for me

As an owner of the Tiggo 7 pro, most irritating features are the driver car mat, has an irritating flap that keeps falling back, and then the software which is sluggish and doesn't work properly.

Thanks Juliet, love watching your reviews. Quick question: Would you drive with this to Zambia? And 2nd question, would you buy this and keep itnfor years or trade in after 3 years

One thing I think we just need to accept, with more than just a "pinch" of salt, is that manufacturer's fuel consumption figures are like political promises.
Never believe them, and look for actual figures in the road tests that do give them.
And fuel consumption is relative.
What may be acceptable for some will be a deal breaker for others.
Anyhow, if you are saving R100k on one vehicle over a competitors model, that pays for a lot of fuel!
Like around 200, 000 km worth at a 2l/100km difference.

Your feeling of the top heavy body roll is what i experience on the Tiggo 7 Pro. It doesnt feel planted even though i have had the car for a year. The soft suspension is part of why it feels like that

I drive a Nissan Qashqai and consumption for a 1.2T averages more than this. Consumption is much better in this car.

What people want is good quality, reliability and something that will last. What they buy is cheap and looks good.
The dual clutch for odd and even gears is great on the race track and ok for driving across the Nullarbor.
But stop start driving in the city and lots of hill starts not so good.
For that a typical torque converter is far better.

My tiggo 7 ended up being a lemon endless issues from suspension failure to sporadic airbag lights and the FCW light going on for no reason whilst driving on the highway.
