You may vaguely remember the brand’s name from the late 2000s. The McCarthy dealer group (now known as Bidvest Automotive) used to distribute Chery in South Africa back then, but while the brand’s products were quite competitively priced, they weren’t particularly well-made – or attractive. The Daewoo Matiz clone (known as the QQ) and Tiggo crossover failed to impress and Chery left our market.

Having driven the new Tiggo 4 Pro, I can assure you, however, that today’s Chery models make the QQ seem like it was built in the late 1800s. It’s astonishing how far this brand has come in just 12 years.

In Chile, Chery is the best selling SUV brand and best selling Chinese brand. There are "Pro" and regular versions of each Tiggo, so far we have the Tiggo 2 Pro, 7 Pro and 8 Pro. We also get the lifetime engine warranty.

Just to comment here on my experience:

I bought a Tiggo 7 Pro last year Nov 2022 from Chery George. They ended up damaging it in a road worthy test...

I have been struggling since then to get this resolved.

Yes true the cars are great, lots of features etc.

BUT, Chery is falling short on the service department...THE MOST IMPORTANT...

So before you buy...check this FIRST!!

When it comes to reliability, if the Cherys in the Philippines and Malaysia are anything to go by, Chery's are quiet reliable. The only thing left to see is dealership service and courtesy because dealerships can make or break a brand. 😁

Cherry has up their game big time. Build quality is solid. Checked it out @ a mall display. Interior is tops 👌. Salesperson mentioned voice activation etc . I like it 👌

It looks like the Chinese cars are hitting the local and international market hard and when you look at the features you getting for the price you pay, it is really a big winner in my opinion. As for the 10 year warranty, mind blowing!
