The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is an affordable EV from Chery, going up against the likes of the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe with its 7-rows of seats, turbocharged petrol engine and VERY affordable pricing.

But what are its issues? Is it worth your time? We spend our time testing the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max to let you know whether or not you should buy one for yourself!

As a Chinese, I was quite surprised to see Chery seems like doing a very good job offshore, since now China's domestic market are quite dominated by Chinese EVs and Hybrids with more intelligent cabin, so I went to dig a little bit, holy molly, they exported 100% more than domestic sales.

The legacy manufacturers must be shitting themselves. Great review. Looks like a combination of an Audi and Toyota. It would be perfect if they added a plug in hybrid option.

Love the review. Given that now we are getting more and more Chinese branded car, would love to have you guys review/address the after sale service and the long term servicablity even in the case the brand pull out of Australia. Of course it's hard to say, but with your inside knowledge and relationship with these brands, hopefully we can get some assurance. Because if these Chinese brands can overcome this final point, I dont see they have any competitor.

My friends have theirs for almost a year now and 40, 000kms. They drive a lot. It has been amazing. Not a single issue or recall issue. Whereas my family had a Toyota that's on its second recall item and that cut out once due to faulty fuel sender units. The Tiggo 8 is my favourite car at the moment.

This or a Xtrail? I would choose this, I can see where my money is going unlike the Nissan. Yeah it doesnt have the hybrid but that hybrid doesnt help much anyway.

I’m considering upgrading from my 2021 VW T-Cross and have looked at both the Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 4X4 AT and the Tiggo 8 Pro Max Executive 7DCT 2.0TDGI AWD MY23. While both seem like great options, I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Which one would you recommend between the two? And by the way I loved this review and might’ve just added extra points to the Cherry.

Rear end looks like a Lexus, which says something about Lexus' design direction

It runs a Magna wet clutch DCT that seems to be reasonably reliable. I drove one and unfortunately the low speed smoothness of this DCT is not great. This is not a sports car and would benefit from a torque converter auto.
