Nintendo is SUING Palworld

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld... the game that people called Pokemon with guns.

As a OG pokemon fan, I think Nintendo is in the wrong here. Yeah it's got pokemon vibes, but they delivered a much more fun game. I love Pokemon designs but the games these days feel lazy. Maybe they should focus on making better games with less bugs.

(Edit here because some people seem confused. This is a patent infringement lawsuit, not copyright, so they aren’t likely going after the pal designs but a game mechanic like throwing balls to catch monsters, or breeding monsters to get new ones with improved stats. If they do this, and they win that’s a huge hit for any other fan made game or indie company wanting to make a monster catching game, and can be discouraging and make people not even want to try because Nintendo might come for them. They shut down fan games, they want to shut down an indie parody game, it’s greedy and sad. This happened with the Nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor and that was such a cool mechanic that now no one else ever gets to use, and that Warner Bros has only ever used twice and then sat on forever. Competition is very healthy in the gaming market, keeps these companies creative and doesn’t let them stagnate, that’s why this sucks so much, they don’t want any competition period, and that hurts everyone In the long run.) It’s getting harder and harder to continue to enjoy Pokemon with shit like this, I’m genuinely so tired of the greed. Ive had more fun playing Palworld than I have since playing Pokemon x and y which is around the last time I truly had any fun with Pokemon. The open world games they’ve put out recently have felt mostly soulless, the visuals kind of suck, it feels like they’re being lazy because they know their fan base will still pay for the stuff they put out. But Palworld has been a blast, it’s stupid, and funny, and the pals feel much more alive and like individuals, I get super attached to them in ways I never have with my pokemon, the game play is fun, the fighting style is a blast, I wish everyone could just chill and shut up, this is a dumbass lawsuit.

😢 Jesus Christ... Palworld isn't even a competitor for Pokemon. They're just mad because they've been delivering slop for the past years and now a game comes along and shows them up. Honestly due to this being a Patent lawsuit and not a Copyright lawsuit imma say Palworld will win but THIER money will take a hit (Paying lawyers, resources etc) which is what I believe Nintendo is going for

In Japan, there's a code of honor to patent stuff, a company called Colopl broke this code by trying to make everyone pay to the digital analog system which Nintendo holds the patent and is used a lot on mobile games, since smartphones doesn't have build in buttons and joystick like a portable console.

Now Nintendo is going after Palworld because of patent, do you guys really think that Pocketpair is a victim and never did something wrong?

Personally don’t care for it Nintendo is going to present its case and Pocketpair needs to prove their innocence the drama behind all this is being inflated by fans of Palworld, anti-Nintendo gamers, indie defenders, the overly conscious Pokemon fans and people with no actual skin in the game people should just chill and watch the events unfold patiently because I’m very certain no one including myself knows exactly what patents Nintendo is talking about except them

It’s a patent suit. Not a copyright suit. Basically meaning that this has nothing at all to do with designs and more so patents that Nintendo had placed AFTER the release of Palworld and about 1 or 2 beforehand

People making such a huge deal of this while saying that if nintendo wins they wont play their games anymore and etc but leta be honest... this story about nintendo suing palworld company will be forgotten eventually and life will run its course like nothing happened .
No one will remember this anymore in half a year or so.

It’s ridiculous because in that logic Ubisoft can sue NINTENDO cause of tower synchronisation in breath of the wild and fromsoftware for basically ANY game that takes inspiration from soulsborne games like Lies of P and Black Wu Kong.
