hey guys, so I'm just relaying info for people that are curious or confused about shiny hunting with this method. First and foremost is that I can confirm this shiny hunting method still works and this is after update 1.1.0, Secondly I was having an issue where after traveling to jubilife I would go back to the gate and try to travel back to the mass outbreak I was farming however it would either be gone or replaced by another pokemon in that region, I later figured out it was because I was going into jubilife through the maps exit instead of speaking to professor laventon, when trying to do this method correctly you MUST travel back to jubilife by speaking to professor laventon. I have conducted multiple experiments and any time I went back to jubilife through the maps exit the mass outbreaks would be reset. I also saw some comments about how to get more mass outbreaks to spawn, mass outbreaks are completely random and sometimes there may not even be any on the map at all, I would suggest going back to jubilife through the maps exit and that should refresh all the mass outbreaks on the map. Just to reiterate when target farming a specific mass outbreak travel back to jubilife by talking to the professor at any of the camps, if you are simply trying to refresh the mass out breaks in your world and are looking for new mass outbreaks use the maps exit to get back to jubilife WITHOUT speaking to the professor. Spotted a shiny while doing one of the balloon run challenges, couldnt catch it in the middle of the challenge so i went back afterwards and it was still there

this may be an old video, but thank you so much for actually telling how to reset properly I have gotten over 30 shiny pokemon and have wasted countless hour on a hunt for shiny rotom i hope you saved me yet

Edit: looping mass out breaks does not always work with certain pokemon on basic small number resets, I was able to get the shiny Rotom however and the video did help me understand that the rotom inside boxes could also count to the number in which the shiny would pop up, as well as it having a list of pokemon that can take its place on the field limited how easy it would be to acquire. Pokemon such as; Rotom, Eevee, and Unknown I would argue are the most difficult to obtain of any shiny including spiritomb since the lack of outbreaks as well as other pokemon that can take their placeholder.

Minus the side quest Ponyta, the others were random and I wasn't even looking for them.

I got lucky on my first playthrough, I found and caught a shiny Buneary without farming. I was trying to get shiny Buneary in Sword and Shield and Ultra Moon for the past 2yrs or so. And I got it right before fighting noble Kleavor for the story and it's been in my party since, currently is a shiny Lopunny with a fighting/fairy moveset

Also, for those not in the know, for witnessing moves, you can also have your Pokemon use said move, and it will count. Does not need to just be wild Pokemon.

i'm kinda satisfied with the shiny odds in PLA, here. i first found a shiny alakazam in a distortion, which was the base odds, but it refused to stay in the ball and despawned. then i ended up getting a shiny Elekid from an outbreak since it outbroke twice in a row, there was a hisuian sneasel outbreak i got a shiny from, and even a shiny Starly just spawned by the standard research rank 10 rates while i was on an errand run for a cascoon, of all things.

shinies are common if you know how to find them, the odds become super high if you work for it, and even after all that, shinies still feel suitably special, even if it doesn't have the same gravitas as a random encounter in the mainline games. that's pretty good, i'd say.

I did feel kinda lucky... Bumped into Shiny Rufflet when on way to the temple to unlock glider. I do like how Shiny Hisui Braviary looks like.

Excluding the ponyta I’ve found 6 shinies so far, petilil, aipom, qwilfish, chatot, luxio, and yanma

I hunted the chatot and the yanma using this exact method you show in the video, the rest were just random encounters while playing, and I’ve only just got to the 5th area in my play through so far, so I’d be surprised if anyone can get to the end of this game without finding at least 1 random shiny

the first time there was a massive mass outbreak in my game I couldn't go bc there was an alpha snorlax blocking the way and I don't have anything to go around it so I just had to turn around bc I knew I wasn't strong enough to fight it
