If you want to catch a shiny or a pokemon you really want to use scyther or any pokemon that has false swipe.False swipe lowers the pokemons health but won't make them faint.

Top 5 shiny pokemon in my book!

-Gyrados (Dunno if thats how you spell it, but the lake of rage gyrados is freaking iconic.)
-Vaporeon (Dont you dare call me sus but vaporeon is amazing. Its adorable and the perfect balance of detailed and simple. Its shiny is all the more rewarding with its blue changed to a really cute pink/purple.)
-Sylveon (Easy, its pink changes to blue. Its adorable.)
-Umbreon (All on this list have been cliché and popular, but shiny umbreon is sick. And you cant lie.)
-Eevee (I know. Its only been eeveelutions +eevee and gyrados, but dont you agree? The eeveelutions are amazing themselves but some of their shinies stick out in an amazing way.)

3 magnemite outbreaks this week, farmed and respawned about 4 hours each time, and not a single shiny appeared. I have yet to see a single shiny at all in Scarlett.

I've been thinking the base rate's been boosted even further than advertised, because just yesterday within two hours I found two shiny Lechonks. I still haven't even entered the school yet. I've had some crazy shiny luck in the past, but this is crazy even compared to that.

It you are farming by a town if you walk into it, all pokemon despawn so is quicker than using a picnic, hope this helps

Try to get outbreaks near towns so you can simply go in and out of the town to respawn. Also, some outbreaks have "sweet spots" where you can optimize seeing a number of spawn spots after ending your respawn picnic. Sandwiches, even the best ones, do not guarantee a shiny, so make sure to save your game just before you make a sandwich. Sandwich power will disappear if you try to change the system clock, and will only last 30 minutes real world time, so be careful! Best of luck out there!
