This shiny hunt was so annoying for me but so worth it in the end. To avoid explosion, either throw a Pokémon behind minior to catch it unaware or use a Pokémon with damp like hidden ability swampert

You don't really need to attack it and reduce it's life, since upon battle you can see the sparkling stars in case it's shiny

"before it explodes" thats what the ability "Damp" is for, so it doesn't explode

I found one and caught it in my play through of the indigo disk without knowing it was shiny and only realised when tidying my boxes that it was shiny 😮 I only caught like 3 Pokémon in that cave!

important warning for anyone hunting this shiny: do NOT use the sync feature to auto battle, as when using the synchro machine your pokemon won’t shake its head like with normal auto battles and will instead knock shinies out as if they were normal pokemon.

If y'all don't have a damp Pokémon, if you save before the shiny and restart your game then the shiny will still be there, saved me a couple shinies before lol

I had been auto battling and resetting at an outbreak without herba or anything, an hour later my pokemon doesnt kill one and I literally froze.
Good thing I saved, it never used explosion but that would’ve sucked 😂

You could also just make a rock sandwich and go to chargestone cavern and auto battle since it's the most common rock type in those caves...
