Most people who taste bitter melons for the first time usually hate it because those who prepared it skipped the initial salting step, which removes most of its bitterness. After learning this step, I have since fallen in love with this vegetable.

It will lower and regulate blood pressure and sugar like you wouldn't believe. Had to leave it alone for a bit since it brought down my pressure and made me dizzy when I was outside. Of course I am on BP medicine, so this made it more effective. I'll try this recipe to tap back in to it.

Bitter melon has been my favorite veggie since I could remember. The more bitter, the more I ate it, so I'm gonna skip the salting step😆 I also love using the leaves in Filipino dishes like chicken tinola & mung bean.

🌸 my mom loved making this each week, she sliced her own much thinner.
Then she sun dried it then cooked it by frying with same, garlic, onions, chillies etc
It was delicious. It’s called caraille or bitter mellon, where she grew up. Normally eaten with other Indian dishes.

Love bitter melon. I was lucky to be introduced to it as an adult.

I have eaten it before in a Vietnamese recipe. it was stuffed with ground pork and rice. It was hard to eat but I would dip it in a hoisin sauce for extra flavor.
