I microwaved the diced potato to cooked upto 75% then mixed up with the cornstarch and salt and only then fryed . It tasted amazing.

In Poland we have our own version of hashbrowns (called "placki ziemniaczane" which is just "potato pancakes"). We just grate the potatoes and add flour and we fry it.
