The company that's been around since 1992 is an A&R organization, not a library. They do not manage catalogs or tracks, nor do they license music, nor do the act as a publisher. They do offer briefs from libraries (and artists or producers) and they act as a middle man to screen submitted cues for the library. This might sound like a terrible idea on its surface, but many people, especially those starting out, have no idea how or who to contact in this business. The unnamed company that started in 1992 acts as an aggregate or conduit to forward your tracks to the company actively looking for music, if it meets the criteria. I've been a member of this company since 2011 or 2012. Besides running the listings, and screening submissions, I think this company excels in fostering a community of like-minded people working toward similar goals. They are also very good at educating their member base, and offering much of that content for free, right here on the YouTubes. Their annual conference, called the Road Rally, is something I look forward to every year and has literally been a life-changing experience.

Hello Marlon, thanks for the info. What are your thoughts on Epidemic Sounds? They pay you up front, then they split %50 of streaming revenues, however they don't accept composers affiliated with PROs... What do you think? Are you familiar with it?

I found this video useful, and don't regret dedicating some 30' to it. Yes, some information may sound obvious, but it's always useful to know the opinion of someone who is professionally involved in the matter. One thing I'd like to know is: Marlon, do you think it's better to specialize in one genre, or instead follow the road of versatility? Of course I'm thinking about music *for libraries*, not personal *artistic* production (you get what I mean, I hope). And thanks for the time you used to give us this video.

Should we register our songs with a PRO before submitting to libraries? What if the lib likes it but wants minor changes. Then we would have to upload revisions to the PRO. ? Not sure as haven’t registered one yet but will soon.

I appreciate your efforts in this video but I think you could and should summarize your thoughts better. 25 minutes and the best infor was basically go to Google and do your own research. Why doesn't anyone want to drop company names? Why don't you talk about your experiences with some of these libraries? That would be much more helpful. Thank you.

I disagree with some of this information. No legit music library or publisher will charge you to submit your music to them, and some are invitation only. They are interested in good music because they can exploit it and make money. A&R, songpluggers, agents ect is a different thing, and they are middle men. Some of those can be legit. Lots of good stuff in the video, but also some confusion. Dont teach kids that it is ok to pay to submit to music libraries and publishers, because its not.

Why do you make these videos? Are you paid to do it? Seems like a waste of time make an educational video
