I'm 55, my hair is long, and now I'm going to grow it longer.

The first image of long hair was gorgeous and youthful. I think it's the short hair on older women that ages them. Just keep it fresh and clean and shiny.

I'm a petite 61 yr old female, and I tend to disagree, lol, ;) My fine hair goes down to almost my waist and I LOVE IT! I also have people constantly telling me I look younger than my age, as well. While I do love long layers, it takes more work. I'll stick with just trimming my bangs/ends. To be honest, I don't care whether people like my hair or not or if it's the "in" look, but am totally happy and grateful that I can have long hair.

By God I'm 71 and if I want to wear my hair long I'm going to and I don't care what anybody else thinks. It's mine all mine.

We can wear whatever makes us happy, at this point in our lives we do whatever we like!

I am approaching 60, my hair is long enough to sit on. I have never received a single negative comment about the length of my hair but I do receive many compliments. I have had long hair all my life and I am not about to cut it. You will find that many older women here in Northern Europe do have hair of this length and are proud of it.

I'm 63 and have long hair, no layers and it definitely doesn't age me :)

You know what? I am sick and tired of men telling me what I and can't wear, how I should act, how I should wear my hair.
I'm over 50 and may choose how I want to appear. I like my long hair. It took a long time to grow it out this long and to care for it and it's gorgeous.
A woman doesn't need someone like you feeding her insecurities.
Tell her she's beautiful. Done.
She's been through enough scrutiny her entire life.
By the time you reach your fifties as a woman, you should be trusted to clothe and style yourself as you see fit.

We’re old hippies, having grown up in the 60s and 70s. I’ll keep my long silver hair. Peace!

Turning 56 this month and first time in years my hair is very long and not cutting it since is more comfortable for my type of job as a courier.

73 here and rocking my below-the-waist silverblond hair. 😊 As long as I can remember hair stylists have aggressively pushed short hair on women so they'll stay in business. ✂️💲 If you love your long locks don't let ANYONE intimidate you! ☮

I love my long grey hair and so does everyone else. I'm 74.

Hmmm, if your poor and you can't pay for repeated hair cuts, you let it grow and have it trimmed a couple times a year. I am a senior on a fixed income and I don't care about fancy styling anymore!! 🤔

I‘m 48 and have very thick and heavy long hair. My stylist talked me into getting layers and that was the beginning of a two year nightmare.
I use to crown braid my hair during work and gardening, and as soon I had the layers strands and single hair popped out everywhere and made me look like a scarecrow.
I told my stylist of this in advance and he assured me I‘ll be fine. He even showed me how to contain them, but it took BOTTLES over a course of two years and tons of pins - only to pop again as soon I left the house. Additionally to that all the spray plus the exposure to the sun outside dried my hair out to the max.
I never spent so much time and effort trying to style my hair before in my life, and I eventually ended up losing 20 centimeters that needed to go due to the damage.
So many clients and friends asked me what happened to my beautiful hair during this time, some even asked me if I was sick, and I’m still not back to my original length.
I spent almost $200 for a „makeover“ and ended up looking like a mess for two years.
I‘m 1/2 indigenous and my hair is really important to me, as part of my culture.
All I can say is - be very careful making this decision. Once the hair is off, it‘s off, and you might regret it for a long time.

Women, this is your signal to grow your hair as long as you damn well please and one length, at any age you wish

I grew out my hair to have it really long one last time. I'm 70. The hair was gorgeous but it dragged down my jowls zone and made my chubby cheeks pop forward. Last week I had 4" cut off and the front layered. It's glorious, still looking long and sunny in the back with lots of motion and flattery in the front.

I'm 50 and I'll wear my hair any damn way I please. Just because I'm a certain age I don't need to start presenting myself the way you or society tells me is "age appropriate" or matronly ffs

the model with the long, one-length hair looks stunning and it makes her look younger IMO.

I´m 63, look like 50 and have long long hair and will always have it. I always got compliments from women and men, how beautiful I´m, how beautiful my hair is and how wonderful it is that I never wanted to cut it and never dyed it. I do what I want. And nobody tells me that over 50 I can´t wear long hair.
