How to insert an unsubscribe link in Gmail and track who unsubscribed to your emails

Here is a preview of what we will go over:

Adding an unsubscribe link will help to keep the mailing list updated and useful for reducing bounces and spam complaints.

Now you will need to go to the Google Sheet with all your contacts. Click “Add-ons”, then “Yet Another Mail Merge”, and then finally click “Start mail merge”. When the pop-up appears, make sure you check the box that says “Track emails opened, clicked or bounced”. The link will now work. To double-check, click the “Alias, filters, personalized attachments” button. You should see a green tick in the subsequent screen to confirm that the unsubscribe link is active.

Once you send the campaign, you will see anyone who unsubscribes from the “Merge status” column. In future campaigns, use filters to ensure that you don’t send emails to the people who have unsubscribed.

I have a question regarding the unsubscribe link. How do I create an unsubscribe link for my contacts? Is the link you're showing in the video a public link anyone can use or do I have to create my own link? Thanks so much for your response.

You can use EmailJS to connect your Gmail account and add unsubscribe link to the email content. This is not only simple, but it also automatically stops sending emails to unsubscribed recipient addresses.

Thank you for this great tutorial! Do you perhaps have one with the same procedure but in Round Cube WebMail? Thanks!

where do I get the link from to add in for web address on the pop up Edit Link. It gives me an option of entering a web address or an email address. If I use email address do I simply add in my gmail email address. I have an author newsletter but need to add in the unsubscribe. Thanks so much

Hi, I tried this. It all seemed to work up until I had tested the unsubscribe in a test email account. When I hit the unsubscribe link from my test email account it even said, "Unsubscription was successful We have informed the sender of this email that you don’t want to receive more emails from them." But looking back at the googlesheet there is no indication in the "Merge status" column. Is there something I dig wrong?

Very frustrated. No matter how many times I try as I go along with the video. The unsubscribe option will not work.

Hello, thank you for the video, but when i try to test it, it goes to your website, not what I would expect it to say "you are unsubscribed" or something. thank you again
