Welcome to a short tutorial on how to check system stability / CPU stability with Prime95 for either overclocked or undervolted systems.

Make sure you download it for the proper operating system. Most of you will be on Windows 64-bit.

After selecting stress test or torture test, you can select the FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation) size. A rule of thumb has always been that smaller FFT stresses CPU and larger FFT stresses memory and chipset.

When running Prime95 it is highly recommended keeping an eye on your temperatures with "Hardware Info" or "hwmonitor". Especially your CPU temperature and whether it gets too hot and results in thermal throttling. That could be an indicator for non-efficient CPU and or case cooling and might be worth a look.

Please keep in mind that even though large FFT is stressing the RAM, you should not rely on an error free Prime95 test completely. For RAM testing we recommend memtest86.

Small update, that now they have updated the program so you enter the number of physical cores (and wont let you enter a number bigger) and then have the option to enable hyperthreading utilisation in the checkbox next to the number of cores

I had to test my 5950x paired with a Aorus x570 Master with advanced PBO settings and this helped me confirm that I have a nice tuning going on. I used Small FFT in my 32 threads, cpu is running 75C at 3.75Ghz 100% usage.

Then continues with no answer at all besides that small FFT stresses CPU and large stresses memory and chipset, which Prime95 already tells. But not one word about what should actually be put in and why. Why did you use 1344 and 29717? What is considered a large FFT?

I will never leave my cpu under 100% load for anywhere close to 24 hours. When I was waiting for my new cpu cooler, I played warzpne for a week on an "unstable" OC with the stock cooler. No issues. Maybe if I was using it for extremely work-critical purposes but for gamers 30 mins on prime 95/occt is more than stable enough

My cpu passed Cinebench after multiple hours, my memtest passed from all day testing. I run prime 95 once and my whole system crashes. Should i be concerned?

LinX is also great for checking system stability. Usually will throw errors much faster and is even more demanding than Prime 95.

i have teps issue on my ci7 10700k suddenly my cpu teps going 100c when gaming it was good before but i dont know what happend i have msi mag water cooler 360 , i replaced the thermal paste and it didnt help i tested stress my cpu a week ago and it went 60c max but now when i sterss test my cpu the temps go 90 im 2 mints
