Which is the best program for testing overclocking stability? Well who cares, just use the one you are most comfortable with. In this case this is just a quick video about why I prefer Prime95 over Aida64.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Intel burn test is pretty much all you need since it's actually LinX. It is really good at finding instabilities in under an hour.

I have it at 4.6 ghz atm, I usually put it down to 4.2 if its a really hot day (which it was on this day) to keep my system stable. My chip can go up to 4.8ghz but I won't be doing that until the cold of winter sets in. It can actually go to 5ghz and I will make a vid on that soon (but that will be a suicide run).

Prob getting sponsored (paid off) to promote Aida64. Me and some friends tried IBT a long time ago (around when it first came out), man did it stress a CPU eh. One of my friends actually fried his chip using it lol.... which is why I and a few others haven't personally touched it for a long time rofl (I am sure it has much improved since those days though).

were can i download prime95 ? There doesn't seem to be one website, there're tones that let you download it. Witch one is the right one?!

just wanna show some respect for how long you've been putting out content. perhaps an update on something like this for a rainy day idea may be nice

I had a Phenom II 550BE that had a defective third core (out of four). It could run Prime95 for hours, but made artifacts on some webapges and videos. Crashed OCCT Linpack after a few minutes of running. Was working as a X3 for a long time, but needed more voltage to do so. Prime95 is a real stability test only if you run it more than 12 hours (game stable) or more than 36-48 hours (serious work stable). Linpack shows problems a lot faster if there are any.

This proves beyond a reasonable doubt Aida64 can pass a overclock  that fails in the real work, where Prime95 is far less likely to do so. This mirrors my testing in the past.

As for Prime95 does not play well with Haskell, imo that's a load of horse crap, not sure exactly who started that myth but it seems it was started to make Haswell appear more overclockable than it actually is.

I use AIDA 64 FPU test and I saw that my cpu jumped from 30 to 90(on air with a 4790k) then I use prime and I ended up with a 75 as max temp

I will have to try OCCT, just never had the need as prime95 has been quite good to me. I tried Aida as there was so much hype about it when Haswell came around but I wasn't impressed at all.

Interesting find. I like the idea behind AIDA64 in that it uses more modern CPU extensions for stress testing as Prime 95 utilizes older ones. Although Prime 95 in the MAX HEAT test might raise temperatures higher, you've got to wonder if it's testing all areas for instability. I would say why not use both. xD

Yeah a mini itx build was the theme for next month I think.

You have to select FPU only as the test. That makes the most heat.

This video has some big problems. First - Large FFT's do not actually create the most heat. Running the small fft's (maximum fpu) will get much hotter. Second. Running Aida64 with ONLY fpu selected will get temps just as high as prime95.

Thanks Lewis, I am using CPU-Z for checking voltages, always used core temp or real temp for checking temps though (but core temp comes with malware nowadays lol). I am pretty sure realtemp is accurate for the 4 cores though?

Your voice/energy level was a whole different back then

Prime95 is more intensive on the cpu than aida64, but I used IntelBurnTest to test the stability of my i7 4.5GHz overclock.

Right on, he needs to make a CNRHKBIT (Chuck Norris Round House Kick Burn in test), man would that be fucking epic.

Definitely, max temperatures with Prime95 is given with Small FFT's test. To approve an overclock, I run Prime95 Small FFT's during 12 hours and Large FFT's durind 12 hours.

Hi everyone. Under stress test my cpu temp goes to 86 degrees before I get scared and manually stop the test. Can I keep going when should I manually stop it. I don't know safe level. I have stock cooler I5 4670k thanx for feedback

in my experience, I received the highest temps, using interl burn test on Xtreme stress mode. my max with prime 95 was 65 degrees after 20+hr but with intelburn test i would get up to 75 degress in minutes. but still even when intelburn test pass i can still fail in prime 95 but never the opposite. so still prime 95 is better but take 20+ hr of testing to make sure system is stable
