Consciousness Physics - Dr. Bernardo Kastrup, Essentia Foundation

Показать описание
Bernardo Kastrup has a PhD in philosophy and another in computer science, and is interested in a theory of consciousness that by necessity emerges from quantum physics. Which, in short, suggests that reality isn't real. What we interact with is just a dashboard, a simulacrum of what's actually going on. We try to understand limits of what matters, try on alternative interpretations for quantum spookiness, and try to make sense of why the world looks and acts the way that it does.

Or by getting one of Bernardo Kastrup's books:

(This is not intended as a dig at your channel in any way).

I love that Bernardo shows up and gives his time to small channels. He could easily be on the biggest podcasts in the world and instead he supports more grass roots setups. Its great.

Being very interested in Bernardo's philosophy has the very welcome side-effect of introducing me to podcasts I may otherwise not have heard about. Great conversation.

Very refreshing to listen to Bernardo discuss different topics than he does in his usual interviews, next time let him speak a little more though, great channel, thanks for the video 🙏

My life turned around when I finally said to myself, "I'm okay the way I am - and I don't need approval from anyone else."

Nice conversation ✌️. I regard Bernardo as the Galileo of Consciousness. Giving a scientific ( as well as a philosophical) basis to Idealism is amazing. The fact that his philosophy chimes with the ancient teachings of Advaita Vedanta is interesting to say the least ✌️.

Amazing how Bernardo adapts to any personality and just delivers. Was doubtful at first, didn’t know you two then watched the whole video like I was there. Great show.

Doing such a great service, facilitating this level of conversation. I’m in my early 20’s and I appreciate what you’re doing to shed light on the cutting edge of science. Please keep up the good work.

For me, the best description of the source of polarisation and conflict that we see sweeping through and between nations comes from Eric Hoffer. His books "the true beliver, thoughts on the nature of mass movements" and "the ordeal of change" are absolute masterpieces. They're very small but deanse books, there's absolutely no fat on his writing, it's all muscle. Beautiful stuff.

Thank you so much. BK is massive..
I think this interview was so great at least partly because podcasters didn't seem to know BK or his philosophy too well, in advance.. that gave a space for serendipity.

You should have him on again to talk about Analytic Idealism.

Anastasia You are absolutely right, the number to avoid feeling insecure or deviating from social norms is just one. All we need to cement our foundation or shape any ideas or hypotheses in our head is one person to deeply connect and fathom our idea on a visceral level and when that happens we don't feel isolated anymore. The reason that some people need more than one person to be validated, applauded, or acknowledged is that they don't know why is it what they want. Is it their own urge, desire, and inclination? Or subconsciously instilled in them by family, peers, and society? Or indoctrination by ancient religion?

I like the idea of consciousness being the platform we are materialized in, being different points (instrumental boards) of observation of the same conscience.

2:26:30 "It's amazing what the human mind can do to find an outlet for the religious impulse, even when the set of beliefs that you have, seem to be contradictory with the very spirit of religion." Brilliant! (as usual)

Just discovered you two, and this was fantastic. I love Bernardo, and I can tell he really opened up and enjoyed this discussion. I think that has a lot to do with the level of intelligence, knowledge, and open mindedness of you both. Looking forward to exploring more of your podcast.

Really wonderful to look at you both, eyes shut, one upturned face, the other slowly nodding, both beautiful - cognition in action. Thank you.
