1. The stomach flu or gastroenteritis is an infection of the intestines that can cause watery diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and even fever.
2. Most people who get it get over it on their own very quickly. But in the case of infants, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems, it can be deadly.
3. To prevent the stomach flu you should avoid contact with infected people. Avoid touching things that infected people have touched, avoid eating or drinking contaminated food items, and wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
4. You should go to the doctor if you can't keep fluids down for more than 24 hours or if you've been having vomiting and diarrhea for more than one or two days. Also, if you are having symptoms of dehydration, have a high fever, and certainly if you have bloody diarrhea
5. Could this be Ozempic? Not likely. Now Ozempic can cause a side effect called gastroparesis which can lead to nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. But according to Oprah five other people in her household have the same stomach flu symptoms. Ozempic side effects are not contagious.
