The diabetes drug Ozempic and its sister drug for weight loss, Wegovy, utilize the same medication, semaglutide. The US Food and Drug Administration said it has received reports of patients on the drugs experiencing stomach paralysis that sometimes has not resolved by the time it’s reported. #CNN #News

I have hashimotos and my endocrinologist encouraged me to take Ozempic. The first warning I read on the pamphlet was that if you have thyroid disease it can cause cancer. I pointed that out and she laughed saying it's not a good fit for me then. Wtf. I see a nutritionist now and actually lose weight.

My PCP recommended this yesterday and I reminded her I have type I diabetes; not type II. We are our best advocates and we must do our homework!

Had diagnosis of Gastroparesis in 2012 and wasn't from any medication side effects. Would not eat or drink at all and lost 80 pounds in 3 months. They placed me on several meds to help it cuz it was considered non-curable. The meds made it worse. Once I stopped them all together, I got better in about one month. Then was placed on Ozempic due to diabetes about year ago and was starting to have severe nausea and not eating (.5 mg once a week). Looked at side effects and stated causes slow emptying of the stomach...OMG!!! GASTROPARESIS all over again. I KNEW it was going to come to this and watch out cuz I can guarantee class action lawsuits are heading this way. I take Ozempic for my diabetes and once people were flocking to their doctors to get this prescribed for weight loss, the med became a supply/demand issue and I, as well as other diabetics, were getting pushed aside and not able to get it for what it was initially meant. Ridiculous!!! Now I am thinking it was a sign. Please take caution because having Gastroparesis is not worth the weight loss. All of this is my personal experience and opinion only.

I’m honestly glad I was able to tweak my diet I was pre diabetic and was prescribed metformin but never took it..I’m afraid of the side effects of the drugs but I’m down 22 lbs and lowered my A1c. Hopefully I can keep going

You take something for weight loss and you have to take something else for the nausea. Then what you're taking for nausea makes you drowsy, so you take something for that. It's an endless merry-go-round. And that's not just to criticize this one drug in particular. It's a trillion dollar industry of denial and medical pandering.

There is no pill for diet and exercise. Stop the madness...

Prescribed Ozempic for diabetes. For me, the constipation is disabiling to the point where I could not pass gass and I vomited undigested food. Yes, my A1C improved, but when you can't fart, that's SERIOUS!!

Why is she so overly cheerful while discussing the side effects of this horrible drug?

Please look up side effects. I'm on the .25 dose still. When I increased to .5 I got up in the night after the dosage increase, was vomiting and dehydrated for a couple days. I was admitted to hospital with kidney failure, electrolytes etc. went haywire. Textbook severe reaction even though some hospital docs weren't aware of. I'm on pretty much the max of five different meds, and all I want is to have days when I feel good. So folks, besides the risk of gastroparesis, please monitor yourself carefully. Doctors titrating dosages up don't know how you're feeling physically. Speak up.

Paralyze and stomach should *_NEVER_* be in the same sentence. That sounds like some serious discomfort. Must be terrifyingly frightening 🤦🏾‍♂️

I'm a diabetic i have Gasteroparises. My doctors will not prescribe them as the risk out weights the benefits. Gastric paralysis is no fun. Like non stop permanent morning sickness. I spent 15 years being misdiagnosed as having IBS. Its frustrating, debilitating and breaks you down.

I had extreme issues with Ozempic and simply stopped. Didn’t ask my doctor for permission, that’s ridiculous. However, when I went in for an update she was just like, ”Yeah, let’s move away from this one.” I’m on a different medication which doesn’t even compare to Ozempic in the way that it works. We’ll see what my numbers are next month. I refuse to be on anything that is going to make me vomiting so badly I pop blood vessels around my eyes and am forced to spend up to two days feeling miserable in bed until I am righted again. Congrats to those who were able to utilize Ozempic without side effects. Sadly, I was not one of them.

I have type 2 diabetes and had been on Truelicity for over a year to manage it. Six weeks ago, I asked my doctor if he would switch me to Ozempic to try and lose a little weight. After 4 weeks on the Ozempic, I was DONE with it. I was sick all the time, diarrhea constantly, it even changed the color of my stool to a grayish/black color, vomiting. I just couldn't tolerate it anymore. I decided losing a few pounds just wasn't worth it. This, for me anyway, was a demon drug. Never again.

All of the comments here are all from people having the worst side effects with ozempic and wegovy. For me no side effects at all. I lost 80 lbs in 4 months and I feel amazing! Absolute nothing bad happened to me and I feel like a teenager again. I discontinued the drug and now that I feel great I’m playing basketball everyday and I’m eating salads and chicken and fish. I love this medicine!!!

I have been using Ozempic for 6 months, I suffer from insulin resistance, POCS and thyroid. It makes me feel nauseous sometimes, but that's all, apart from that I'm fine. I am now on a dose of 1mg and still all is well.

I've been on Wegovy for 3 months. I was at the edge of obese and I'm elderly. I started with .5 mg, after 6 weeks went to 1.0, Now I am on 1.5. I have lost an average of one pound a week and am perfectly satisfied with this. None of these bad symptoms, just have a small appetite. Therefore, I try to force myself to eat every two hours and load up on protein. Going well for me. Sorry other people had such a hard time.

My sister in law is an anesthesiologist and she has seen an increase in patients who are being operated on with a full stomach bc they are on those drugs. Makes it so much more challenging for the surgeons as well as dangerous for the patient. Big no no.

Maybe now gastroparesis will FINALLY get money funded to finding a cure. Ive suffered for 22 years with it and have almost died many times. I have no life or functionality yet cannot get disability as its not considered a disability. Meanwhile we suffer and die every day, including babies and kids, by literally starving to death. Its slow, extremely painful, and we have NO support. I've been there many times and its the worst thing you can imagine.

Everything you’re talking about in this video has happened to me. And even after being diagnosed with gastroparesis over a year ago, my family, Dr did not take me off of it. Which meant I was on the Ozempic for a year after being diagnosed with gastroparesis and ended up in the hospital for seven days.
