Not only did I quit, but I pulled both of my kids out. One homeschooled (he’s now graduated), the other is in private high school. I teach homeschoolers online and I’m starting TPT. The system needs to crash and burn and be built from the bottom up.

I resigned last week for the same reasons as you. I was a fourth year High School Spanish Teacher.
I'm so burned out from all the facets discussed along with student behavior, salary, and certification. I'm tired of juggling my emotions and thoughts in this field and ready to live freely apart from the profession.

I quit teaching early during this school year. I tried a new career path, quit that job, then got hired at a new school teaching again. I love teaching now because I switched schools. It’s never too late to try again!

So many people are leaving the profession. People think teaching is so easy because we get summers off and days off throughout the year. Teaching is exhausting work. After 27 years of teaching I still question myself and my abilities. I still love love most of my students and I love most of my colleagues, even though there's a few that pluck my nerves. I wish you all the luck in the world on your new endeavor.

I am sorry your job made you feel you weren’t good enough because your lessons are amazing. I used your strategy for teaching 3rd graders to write in my tutor class and all of the kids succeeded and two of the kids went up over 15 points on their standardized testing.
Taking care of your self is so important, you go girl!!!! Congrats on getting to this point YOUR KILLING IT!!!!

Your honesty is refreshing. I retired in June after 32 years of teaching. The kids are not the same! The key to change is starting with awareness. Bravo 👏

Omg, I’m so glad you are speaking about this stuff. So many teachers experience these things and are afraid to speak up. We are givers by nature and they take advantage. The expectations do not match the income. I’m proud of you and you look much happier.

I applaud you! You made the right decision. I taught elementary school in Southern California as well. Orange County to be precise. After 22 years of teaching I also resigned. Everything you said in your video is sad but true. 22 years ago, elementary teaching was nothing like it is today. It is now a dysfunctional system that needs to be redesigned from the ground up. The politics in public education have gotten so bad that it literally handcuffs teachers and prevents them from doing amazing things in the classroom. Over the years, I have seen elementary teaching get worse and worse. Bottom line, your heart was in the right place, ❤but your brain was telling you to abandon ship for self-preservation reasons. The golden age of teaching is long gone.😥

Waking up is definitely great. I just turned 31 and I was so tired of worrying about what other people thought of me, but more than that... I was tired of how I felt about myself. Trying to prove to everyone how unbreakable my will is, how brave I am and how much I poured into my craft... All to learn in the end that people will always find something they don't like about you. No matter how hard you try. It's never enough. And now, I'm making great changes in my life to be just ME. May sound weird, but I am so glad I was freed from the Matrix. God bless, Bre and I wish you the best

I'm not even finished with my Masters's program yet and I'm already some thought about this position. I've been subbing for the past 18 months nonstop and going to school for a teaching credential for two semesters so I'm already seeing a lot of things. However, with the qualifications, degree, and skills that I have right now, teaching is the best option for me for many reasons. I'm going to give it my all these next couple of years. I'm also open to the possibility of arriving at this conclusion someday down the road. Some options I have already explored: Law School, School Psychologist, and teaching at the College Level.

I left it too. It's crazy because before I started teaching, I watched you a lot in college. I completely understand why you left. I'm excited to transition to something different! I hope you make content about transitioning into something new! 9 teachers at my campus quit teaching this year so I know there must be a lot of us that can relate to this transition journey. :)

I have quit teaching jobs 2 times in less than 2 months because of the same reasons. I feel like I love teaching but the school system isn't aligned with me and my personality. I don't understand why lesson plans written in a certain way matter so much. There is also an obsession with doing courses to get certain certificates which only makes teachers overwhelmed. I have been teaching for 6 years and I realized I do much better teaching private classes online or in person. I enjoy tutoring students more than being a full time teacher.

I have been a teacher in Alabama for over 30 years. My kids are well behaved. The admin is fine. The parents mostly leave me alone. I look forward to going to work.

I left this school year after 8 years. So many things transpired but I knew in 2020 I was done. Now I am figuring it out and I can tell you it’s harder teaching with a kid. I was also that rule follower who always had to keep my mouth shut in fear of getting in trouble

Your honesty and chat on your `nervous system` and `contract time` is most relevant. Thank you. James Deagle
