For people who want to know: it's an apron and then 4 skirts before the shift. In winter it would probably be great.

"I don't have any hips"
*20 layers later*
"Now I have hips"

I understand now why it always says “skirts” in plural in Swedish. “She lifted her skirts”.

"Let me slip into something a little more comfortable"
**removes 20 skirt layers**
**applys 6 more**

As a Finn, that amount of petticoats looks so cozy and warm!

I wear skirts like this on the daily, and I can vouch for their warmth and coziness! There's something about hefting my skirts from snow or to climb steps that makes me feel I'm connecting to my ancestors. My fave thing about 18th century skirts? The massive pockets! Which I'm surprised Karolina isn't wearing here, as they're so useful.

This is so cool! I love your content, and I think it's really awesome that you're showing people the different layers of historical clothing. I wonder how similar, in terms of layers, this would be for working class women 100 years later.

Back then: 10 layers and functionality
Today: 1 layer and the body stinks

At one point there was a huge 2nd hand clothing industry where the lower orders bought thier clothes and often sold them for coin to pay the bills.

well the thing in the hips must have been great for older ladies, cause when they fall they don't fall that hard. Some woman I took care of as a CNA had something similar in case they fall, but this one in the Video looked even better.

Reminds me of traditional Skirts called "Daaman"ladies used to wear during my grandmothers times, most of the times they weighed aroung 10 kg. old folks were just build differently 😶

😬 this emoji is me, imagining having to get to the outhouse quickly with all that.
😶 now I'm praying I didn't miss any skirts as I take care of business.
🥰 this is me loving central heat, porcelain fixtures and trousers.
Thank you for the education, M'dear!
