What Georgians Wore Travelling: Getting Dressed in the 18th Century (1770s) #Shorts

A quick #shorts explaining what someone may have worn travelling (horse riding, carriage journey, walking, etc.) in the 1770s. I should mention, this specifically refers to Western fashion of the period, and most likely upper-class.

There will be some more of these "Getting Dressed in..." videos to come in the future!

I should mention, this specifically refers to Western fashion of the period, and most likely upper-class. This also isn’t a summer ensemble! Light linens and tropical wools would have been worn for summer, and they’re actually comfortable materials and help keep you cool even in extreme heat. Additionally, the under petticoat was sometimes worn _under_ the stays, but I don't find this comfortable so I place it over. Gloves and riding boots would also often be worn!

This whole ensemble is simply stunning! I can imagine that the buttons must have taken ages but it the finished garment definitely looks worth it

It's crazy to actively see how much clothing has changed.
Great workship - very impressive.

I think its absolutely fabulous that you wear exactly what you like and feel that you are meant to wear.
Just fabulous 👌.

If I had the time, money, materials, know how, and energy, I think this is one of the eras I'd dress like. It's just GORGEOUS.

I like Georgian period clothing styles so much more than the periods directly before & than the entire century afterwards.

For those of you who need to know: the Little Ice Age was still extant. Temperatures were lower than today’s. Yes, there were warm, even hot days, but nothing like we have.
PS: that’s why Tudor fashions piled on the clothes.
Cheers!

Love the finished ensemble. Very eye catching. But the probably 100+ hours of work, that went into this one ensemble, are mind numbing, not gone lie. I do quite a bit of hand finishing myself (on modern garments), but this is a whole different level of time commitment and effort 👏👏👏
