No matter how big is your chip, Asrock is probably already trying to make a mini ITX board for it

Imagine how impressive of a cooling solution they're going to need for these things.

Imagine having to buy a motherboard for this thing

Can't wait for Linus to drop this CPU.

Riley: So IF you were able to drop this into your computer, you'd need 15 PSU's
Linus: Hold my LTT store water bottle, eh?

150 logical cores are coming. The chip will look like a piece of bread, and inserted like a toaster. When it hits max TDP it will eject the CPU at just the right temperature, but not without having burned slightly.

The backround transitions around 0:32-0:41 are actually really nice! One might even get the impression you guys do this for the living ;)

Imagine a single core failing on that massive CPU.

Concerning defects and yield, my understanding is that they bypass/don't use dead parts of the chip. They loose some random cores, but the chip as a whole still works.

I just wanted to say I love Riley and I am happy he is still providing me with tech news.

I feel like this is missing one important thing(or rather, misinforming about it) - how they handle defects in WSE2. Because there is no waste due to manufacturing errors with WSE. They know they won't get a perfect wafer-sized chip, so they basically built in the tech to disable a few (hundred/thousand) cores, giving them a basically perfect yield of functioning chips. So while other chips have to get thrown out because they're just broken, with WSE they just route around the defects and still get their tens of thousands of cores.

I really want AMD to come out with a Radycal processor line now.
That's an... epyc idea
