I wish intel would have made the e-cores as efficient as some cores from AMD's chipsets, so an high performance intel laptop would finally manage to have decent battery life.
I was hoping this is what would have happened with the 12th gen's new e-cores but that isn't completely true, as we still see very similar amd and intel based laptops, where amd outperforms intel by a large margin in battery life and low-power efficiency basically.

Loving the leapfrogging from both Intel and AMD at the moment with cool, good, innovative and/or interesting design choices. AMD brought us high performance and battery life in an 8 core package, Intel goes nuts on multithread performance this year, then AMD will try the same with the chipletted Raphael APU while possibly jumping to RDNA3 for Pheonix next year!

Am I the only gamer that wouldn't mind seeing laptop manufacturers increase the size and thickness of laptops to accommodate more efficient cooling? I love the sleekness and the thin profile of todays laptops, but certainly wouldn't mind sacrificing size and weight to get temps under control. Since most of us use our laptops sitting at a desk or table and have them plugged in, I don't think most of us would mind.

With how much power these and future chips will probably consume ... I hope the liquid cooling method of XMG/Eluktronics becomes more widespread to address the insane heat generated.

So, new laptops will be hot and consume more battery... great! If you also look at the slides, the high-end Intels were using a 3080, or 3080ti while the 6900HX laptop was using a 3060 (3:14). This is important because it's not an apples-to-apples comparison, especially for Autocad, rendering, etc.

We need to get those tests in first because with the TDP these new Intel chips have (meaning more heat) these laptops might be throttling in long workloads.

As a side benefit to those who live in colder climates, imagine your new fire breathing laptop also functioning as a supplemental space heater.

Y’all saying the temperature will be crazy, but they could have developed some super cooling method this time

157W for a laptop is a bit over the top. How long does the battery last? 30-60 min?
