I do this 3 or 4 times a year. But in between times, I use a product called Stinky Bins. It's kind of like cat litter with a cherry scent. It soaks up any nastiness down the bottom and when the garbage truck empties the bin, it empties the litter out with it at the same time.

*Perfect timing *! Thank you. Although I typically wash the garbage can with soap and water every couple of months, we had a little problem with a gastrointestinal bug with 4 of the 7 dogs for 3 days (should have bought stock in paper towel company), and despite putting the soiled stuff in a tied-up plastic bag, it still smells awful. Will do what you suggested tomorrow 😊

My multi family home neighbors don't get why I get annoyed when they toss open, gross stuff in my barrel yet don't seem to notice I'm the only 1 of the 3 that has a barrel that doesn't smell like a corpse. Their barrels r a few ft away yet they love to toss diapers, fast food, half full drinks in mine when I don't put anything unbagged in there & food doesn't go in til night b4 pick up. Inconsiderate neighbors suck.

Pro tip I picked this up from my father. Drill a few holes in the bottom that will act as a drain if it rains. Love your videos ❤❤❤

Maybe this is just because I live in a state where it’s always wet here & nothing dries unless you actually hang it up… But shouldn’t you leave that lid open until all that water dries up??

I usually use dish soap mixed with chlorine and let it sit for abit in cold water cause that seems to help with the smell better 🤔 but I like your environment friendly approach and will give it a shot 😊👍

I do this like this as well only thing I do differently is get some boiling hot water and throw it in the can first to get any stains so I don’t have to scrub. Then I follow up with dawn soap, vinegar, and my water hose.

Even thought I bag my garbage, my can still gets dirty somehow. So thank you for this great tip to clean it!! 😊

I have only used bleach and water to clean mine. I will try the vinegar and dish soap next!

8 just tip mine over on trash day after pick up andcleave it for a day or so. Bugs and critters clean it right up. If a bag broke or its extra messy i will occasionally spray it after.
