Well, if you are wonder why “black containers” are not fully open and only have lidstops because they are very old can and they molded without handle or lid attaches, have to installed with PVC handle to attaches it. The container is from late 70s that’s why they got lidstops.

So, our Isuzu has a higher basin but we also have a Ford F550 and the back hopper is lower. Instead of the handles out, I try to twist it a quarter to the outside and the lid won't get caught. But we never see bins like that in my area

I’m sure a bungee or strap would hold the lid nicely
