In this video I talk about some of my favorite tips learned from older generations. These are valuable ideas we can take into our day to day life to help us save money now.

Welcome! I have been in debt and not in control of my money. My early 20's were an exploration outside of the frugal lifestyle I was raised in. After getting into debt and having payments that amounted to more than my income I hit the "never again" moment. I was able to resolve the debt by gaining control of my money. On this channel I share my experiences, advice and thought provoking ways to help resolve negative money habits and help widen the gap between income and expenses.

Love the smell of bed sheets that have been dried outside in the sunshine!

You can get a lot of good fabric cheap from tops and dresses at thrift stores.

Hey Jennifer you took me back to my childhood with most of your frugal tips I still remember my mom and grandma hanging up our clothes and clean and fresh they smelled, I do most those frugal tips thank you for reminding us of those great tips, your daughter is blessed to have such wonderful parents that are teaching her living skills .

yes you are so right the sheets smelled amazing from liliacs and other flowers. I want to say that where I live the younger generation does not want to prune their trees and bushes and I could give a whole speech on why pruning is so important. These 100 year old plants are dying because they don't want to prune them and I try to do it for them if they let me. Maybe some school teacher will read this and teach these kids how important these things are. God Bless

I hope those with boys will also teach them to sew as well. It’s an invaluable skill for all!

I am astonished of what all I have spent money on that I can do myself or even do better. My homemade laundry soap rivals any name brand and I have found we can learn about anything to do proper maintenance on our homes, vehicles and many money saving big ticket items. I love sewing for others on my vintage Singer machines and it’s about time I start to teach my five year old.

I have greatly enjoyed making homemade sewing gifts over the years. It has definitely helped us give nice gifts when we couldn’t afford to go buy them. I have made full-size quilts, lap, quilts, quotes/q willows which is a quilt that folds up into a pouch like a pillow, pillows, pillows with a pouch, and you would stick a new book in them, pencil cases, that I add markers and different things to, aprons, tool belts, reusable shopping bags, napkins… keep in mind that anything you can buy someone has made

I use an indoor retractable clothesline in my basement laundry area. I hang most things and then put them in the dryer for a few minutes to fluff up the clothes. I bought a big package of red shop towels (my kitchen is red and white and black) and use them, keep them in a red metal box on the countertop.

Leveling up leftovers into new meals has been a game changer for me, hated leftovers until I figured this out!

I wear an apron because I always wear solid colored tank tops that are ruined for public wearing with grease stains. I do wear my old tank tops for pj's tops.

I'm Canadian and we get milk in bags (yes, bags). These plastic bags are very thick! My mom would wash them out, and use them to store important papers, such as life insurance policies, etc...They are very sturdy, and can be used for lots of things!😊

I love hanging clothes outside!! I also sew. Making gifts is also something I do. My grandkids get crocheted ornaments every year at Christmas, and as they graduate, they get a crocheted afghan. Lots of love and prayers go into them.

Jennifer, you've inspired me to teach my grandkids sewing and to involve them in planting and working my veggie garden this year! They are perfect ages for this Also, yes, I have a pile of full sized towels, old ones, I call "shop towels". They are very handy for washing the dog and big spills and dirty work but I have more than I need. I think I'll cut them up and hem them and make rags to cut back on paper towel use. Loved your imagery about the honeysuckled clothesline! 🥰

My sister-in-law served her leftovers once a week. Everything in the fridge was heated up on Friday night for the “Schmorgasboard”

I hang things on hangers over the tub, on an extra tension rod. Then I have another one right below it for things like jeans. The rods take up a a few inches in the closet when not in use. The lady I learned it from would just set them up in the corners of the tub.

back in the early 80s it was popular to get kitchen sets of tablecloth and fabric napkins. found them in huge piles at my mums and grandmothers house. they are not the prettiest patterns but i kept the napkins of good fabric (were so sturdy) use them everywhere instead of paper napkins as much as i can, got one in the car with me, a couple at work, they also dry so much faster and found them so handy.
also, my grandmother growing up in hardship and being a professional master seamstress, she used to recycle all clothes! when she passed i had some wonderful memories from her, my mum and my aunt. for example their dresses and skirts turned into aprons, towels etc. always smiles when i use these stuff
