I'm 34 and miss my Grandma dearly and to honor her, I try to incorporate simple living into my daily life by doing things we used to do together. One of my new favorite pastimes is sitting on the front porch and drinking a glass of iced sweet tea! It brings me so much JOY to feel the warm sunshine on my cheeks and reminds me of those days sitting on Grandma's porch! My grandma was pure JOY and if I can be anything like her, then I'll be alright 😊

I am 81 and my dear boy friend is 93. We love dancing to big band music at the senior center. It brings such joy, the music, the friends we meet and swinging to the sounds of oldies but goodies. Congratulations to 45, 000. I am new to your channel but it has already helped me in learning how to save. Thank you

An old fashioned JOY that we still do is to secretly ring door bell on May 1st-May day leaving a bouquet of flowers to someone. Brings such JOY to them and us too. 💜

Staying home, by the fireplace, and playing cribbage with my boyfriend is an old fashioned joy. Some of our best date nights!!

The two things that bring me the most joy are going to the library and walking out with a bag FULL of books (I feel like a boss!), and growing roses in my backyard. When people ask me what I do for fun and I say I grow roses, I can see them lose interest....but it brings me so much joy to look out and see all the beautiful flowers, and to have a free vase of fragrant and colorful roses on the table from May until November.

My JOY is going for Sunday drives as a family with packed snacks. My son is 15 and still asks if we are going for a drive on beautiful days. (He loves the peaceful calm of them he said)
It's a family tradition. Trapped in a car, talking and munching on snacks, going on short day trips.

What gives me joy, and that people consider old fashion is hanging my clothes outside on my clothesline. They smell amazing, the sun is a natural bleach and of course it saves on energy use! Love your channel.

My old time joy is picking up pecans in the fall with my mom. I’ve been doing this since I was young. I’m now 58 and mom is 82 and still going strong! We pick up from trees that were around when my grandmother was a child. I love carrying on this family tradition!

Nothing gives me greater joy than crocheting scarves, blankets, and lace edges on my clothes! Mom taught me this in elementary school. Now that I am in my 60's, some people assume I took it up in my old age! 😂

I like to hang out my laundry and watching the wind blow out the water and wrinkles. I also find great joy in looking at rows of freshly canned beans or other vegetables from the garden. A big thank you to my Mom for teaching me how to can and freeze MANY years ago. Brings many good memories every summer.

Old time joy is our blessing. Our adult children home with us on Sundays, with homemade frugal food. I always have lots of leftovers, and ask if they want some. They started bringing their own reusable containers....so proud! We now have a rustic camp and their friends visit. We are now mom and dad to several more, with little leftovers 😋.

The one old time joy I still love to do is using a clothes line outside in the summer and on a drying rack in the winter and fall. I will say- so many of my friends call me Ma Ingalls- but I take that as a compliment. 🥰

One thing that still brings me JOY is reading the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder...I think my love of reading comes from reading her books as a child, . I make it a practice to read the series about every 7 months, and I continue to find JOY and escape into those simpler years.

The older I get, what brings me the most joy is to spend time with older family that can share stories of times gone by. Just had lunch with my 96 year old great-great aunt, and we are SO blessed to have her with us to impart her stories and wisdom to us!

The most JOY I have found for me in my life started as a child taught to me by my dad is giving back to the community, helping others. I remember as a child helping my dad fix lawn mowers with out charge for the neighbors, delivering groceries from the local small town store to families in need, mowing yards, helping neighbors plant there gardens, canning, preserving the past. Now as I have gotten older I give back to my community by volunteering/helping the elderly is my best JOY, taking the time to listen to their stories. What true JOY that brings. My dad was right He always use to say “ The joy of giving and helping others will make you a very wise person someday because it comes from the heart”. Thank You Dad

An old-time pastime that I enjoy is hanging my sheets out on the clothesline. I love the fresh air smell and it feels almost meditative to me and brings me such contentment and JOY!

My old time Joy is reading a physical book. There’s something so satisfying about holding a book, putting it on your nightstand or table with a bookmark. Also congratulations on so many subscribers. I love your videos!

An old time JOY of mine is that I cook for those who are sick or otherwise homebound. I love to cook fresh bread loaves and my husband and I deliver it to the neighbors - they LOVE it. It is a blessing to be able to cook for others!

Gary and I love to pack picnics wherever we go! It brings us a great deal of joy whether we are having simple sandwiches and a thermos of coffee or fried chicken, potato salad and all the trimmings.
